SMX is currently recruiting for a System Security Subject Matter Expert to join our State and Local team.  This is a remote, US-based position with potential travel to Hawaii. The Security SME will lead a group of analysts responsible for managing program cybersecurity requirements, implementation and accreditation, and operations.  SMX seeks to advance the critical missions of our customers through advanced software development, cloud migration and operation and maintenance of highly secure and compliant environments leveraging a wide variety of process methodologies and technologies. You will join a team of highly driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting customers deliver solutions for our nation's most critical needs. This role is remote supporting a Honolulu, HI based team with occasional travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Architect every aspect of the solution's security design, create security documentation, and ensure the solution complies with relevant security regulations.
•    Plan, develop, and communicate organizational security policies, standards, and best practices to protect sensitive information and safeguard the computer networks, systems, and data.
•    Research emerging threats and recommends software and hardware solutions and procedures and security enhancements that neutralize those threats.
•    Develop and support a continuous monitoring solution compliant with customer policies.
•    Monitor all system components for environmental changes; conduct risk assessments, develop risk responses to all applicable orders, directives, and Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M); and update     documentation as needed to maintain authorization.
•    Analyze and enhance security controls throughout the system components and its data stores.
•    Establish reporting mechanisms and provide updates to senior leadership as required.

Required Skills/Experience:

•    Bachelor's degree required. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
•    Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or similar security certification.
•    10+ years of experience as a System Security professional.
•    5+ years of experience implementing security in enterprise solutions.
•    Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

•    Experience securing cloud-based software solutions.
•    Familiar with Agile software development methodologies.
•    Preference shall be given to candidates with security experience with the specific case management solution being proposed in similar businesses.

The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. The proposed salary for this position is:$100,000—$130,000 USD
