Job Description
Niagara University's Department of Cybersecurity and Operations (CSO) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in the fall semester of 2024 in Vaughan, Ontario. As a tenure-track faculty member in CSO, the successful candidate will be required to teach three courses per semester (fall/spring), publish impactful scholarly research and participate in service (committees, advisement, etc.) to the department, college and university according to the NULTA Faculty Contract. Attendance at periodic meetings and holding regular office hours will also be expected. The courses assigned will be primarily at the graduate-level, though they may include other areas as department needs dictate - as well as a mix of traditional (face-to-face) and online formats.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Information Security or closely related field completed at the time of appointment. The department is currently seeking the following skills as a new faculty member joining the CSO department (teaching, research and service):
- At least three (3) years of successful cybersecurity teaching experience in the following areas (teaching):
o Cryptography
o Software Security
o Ability to teach CSO500 (Cybersecurity survey course)
- Further, this position requires the following experience (service)
o Successful curriculum development that includes remote learning
o Able to serve as the Ontario campus faculty leader.
o Ability to actively participate in CSO recruitment efforts throughout the year.
o Assist organizing cybersecurity events on and off campus.
- This faculty position also requires the following (research):
o Ability to lead student research projects.
o Proven successful publication record.
o Proven successful grant writing skills.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in the above criteria. This will be demonstrated by strong communication skills evident throughout the application process; a teaching CV that includes a compelling statement of teaching highlighting areas of interest, awards, accomplishments, and teaching philosophy; sample course syllabi and materials; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing that endorse excellent teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical practices.
