GEICO is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Senior Staff Cybersecurity Engineer to join the growing Cyber Fusion Center team. As an engineer in cybersecurity at GEICO, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish – working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. It's your job to coordinate the stakeholders and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines, and drive for impact for GEICO and our customers. 

Position Description: 

In this role, you will work across engineering and cybersecurity teams to define and drive engineering solutions, improve and enhance existing processes, and solve critical operational problems. You will contribute to vision and strategy, and you will develop the technical roadmap to deliver solutions that transform or unlock new cybersecurity capabilities. You will be data-driven and seek to apply an engineering mindset to the problems of scale, automation and effectiveness, and look to continually assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of security response. You will work closely with Cyber Fusion Center leaders to deliver on our vision for a unified, common operating picture that combines threat intelligence, security telemetry, behavioral analytics, and other signals into clear, actionable intelligence and business insights that drive timely and effective response, and you will have experience in driving or managing critical cybersecurity programs, with experience in defining and reporting on key metrics that continuously drive improved impact.  

Position Responsibilities 

As a Senior Staff Engineer, Cybersecurity Response, you will: 

  • Help define a clear vision, strategy and roadmap, and drive critical Cybersecurity programs within GEICO’s Cyber Fusion Center. 

  • Define the business and technical requirements for software and systems that are needed to improve the capabilities, efficiency, speed, and effectiveness of the Cyber Fusion Center, and work with engineering teams to ensure these requirements are developed and released in a timely manner. 

  • Collaborate with Cyber Fusion Center partner teams to understand challenges of response operations, performance, and resiliency; formulating strategies to address issues in a sustainable way. 

  • Lead and influence stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects by meeting project milestones. 

  • Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and encourage risk taking behavior to maximize business benefit. 

  • Prioritize program goals, understand and translate stakeholders’ needs into goals and deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing joint goals and deliverables across one or more cross function teams. 

  • Improve program impact by defining, monitoring, and reporting key program metrics to continuously drive improved impact. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of organizational leadership, either directly as a leader, or in a chief-of-staff, senior technical advisor, or similar roles. 

  • 4+ years of cybersecurity response experience, including incident response

  • 3+ years of experience of working with engineering teams. 

  • 2+ years of technical product, program management, or software design experience. 

  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (Saas, Paas, IaaS, etc.), and infrastructure functions including network, distributed compute, storage, and server infrastructure, etc. 

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes, and driving progress against roadmaps. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience. 

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules. 

  • Knowledge of business continuity, disaster recovery, and resiliency. 

  • Experience defining and reporting on key metrics used to drive cybersecurity operations and response effectiveness. 


 

Annual Salary

$130,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
