Position Summary  

The Senior Manager of Cybersecurity and Technology will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives that align with the overall strategic plan of Scout Clean Energy. As Senior Manager of Cybersecurity and Technology, you will lead the planning and implementation of enterprise systems to support the Company’s technology strategy and operations.  

You will be responsible for three key technology areas: 

  1. Cybersecurity – ensuring the integrity of our assets, both physical and digital. 
  1. Operational Technology – ensuring the reliability of all systems that support critical business functions. 
  1. Information Technology – ensuring that we have the resources and support needed to anticipate and respond to our staff’s day-to-day IT needs. 

The Senior Manager of Cybersecurity will report directly to Scout’s Head of Technical Services and will work closely with third-party technology IT service providers and consultants to provide much of the day-to-day IT support required.  

Key Responsibilities 

 

Multifaceted Business Needs 

 

  • Understand and translate the business vision and strategic direction into an executable plan that enhance the organization processes efficiency with improved usage of technology. 
  • Strong ability to work in partnership with business functions to identify process improvements opportunities, document the requirements and facilitate the implementation of solutions. 
  • Manage and coordinate work of external service providers to deliver projects and services to the business on agreed schedule, budget and scope.  
  • Identify opportunities and develop business cases for cost-effective investment of resources in technology initiatives, including staffing, sourcing, and purchasing.  
  • Remain current with trends and issues in both the technology and the energy industry. 
  • Serve as the main point of contact with Brookfield Renewable on all cybersecurity-, operational technology-, and information technology-related matters. 

 

Operational Technology 

  • Coordinate with the Operations Technology and Remote Operations Center (ROC) team to manage the reliability of all data and support systems that support critical business processes. 

 

Cybersecurity  

  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program aligned with Brookfield Renewable that includes risk management; security operations; incident response; infrastructure security; identity and access management; end user awareness/training; and data security and privacy, as well as policies and practices that minimize risk. 
  • Ensure compliance with Brookfield policies and industry regulations in terms of cybersecurity, data privacy and compliance (SOX).  
  • Develop a roadmap for newly acquired and newly operational assets to meet Brookfield Renewable cyber security and reliability standards. 

 

Information Technology 

  • Assess the company’s current technology infrastructure and make changes required to align it with the business needs of the organization. 
  • Set objectives for the IT function aligned with Scout Clean Energy’s overall business objectives. 
  • Develop, track, and control the IT annual operating and capital budgets. 
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure sound governance and management of business systems across the organization. 
  • Manage life cycle of IT infrastructure  and optimize the use of IT tools, software, hardware and other devices to improve efficiency of the organization. 
  • Ensure the ongoing functionality and availability of all IT systems and services, including infrastructure, applications and services, aligned with service level agreements in place. 

Requirements

Skillset and Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, finance, information technology or related field. 
  • 10 years of experience in IT in a senior leadership role, preferably with an energy company or in a rapidly growing business. 
  • Substantial experience in cybersecurity and either Operational Technology (e.g., SCADA and Industrial Control Systems [ICS]) or Information Technology. 
  • Prior success in installing and managing Palo Alto firewalls. 
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. 
  • Demonstrated success in communicating with, building rapport with, negotiating, influencing, and directing the work of counter-parties and internal stakeholders. 
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills that effectively reach audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. 
  • Six Sigma certification is a plus. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. 

 

Organizational Fit: 

 

  • Passion for renewable energy and the transition to a cleaner power supply. 
  • Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through capability in a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States. 

 

Timeline and Location 

We will review resumes for this role on an ongoing basis with a start date likely in Q1 2025. 

Our ideal candidate will be willing to work from our Boulder, Colorado, office at least three days per week.

Benefits

Target base salary: $120,000-$165,0000
