Introduction
Cybersecurity threats are getting more common and MedTech devices are in the crosshairs. How do we prepare ourselves not only to be protected, but also for rapid response and deployment of security updates?
Background
If a cybersecurity threat requires a software update, the customers, as well as regulatory agencies, expect the response from the supplier to be swift and efficient. At the same time, we need to always verify the safety and performance of every software release thoroughly before being deployed to the customers.
These are somewhat contradictory requirements, which is what this thesis is aimed to address and investigate.
Problem Statement
- What improvements can be made to cut lead time with unchanged or enhanced level of quality and safety in releasing and deploying cybersecurity updates to the Leksell Gamma Knife control system?
- How should the software application and operating system architecture be partitioned to support easy cybersecurity updates?
- How can we make use of the IntelliMax for automatic remote deployment of the control system software?
Output
- The Master Thesis shall investigate, define, and document conclusions on the above listed problem statements.
- The Master Thesis shall include a literature study of existing cybersecurity solutions.
- Prototype activity could be around version handling, remote automatic deployment etc.
The above shall be documented in a report (the Master Thesis).
