We ensure future viability of global international trade & prosperity of communities around the worldThe IT Operations Engineer plays a critical role in developing methods to support Windows Server OS patch management and deployment processes as well as server hardening in keeping with the current company patching strategy and cadence as well as assisting with configuring, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating with all relevant sites to schedule maintenance windows and verify proper testing is carried out.
The IT Operations Engineer will work closely with the other Infrastructure IT teams and other relevant departments to understand downtime availability and tailor delivery of OS updates to meet these requirements. They will contribute to the ongoing evaluation and implementation of new vulnerability mitigations whilst having a good understanding of the current set of tools in use across the department. Additionally, the role will involve monitoring system performance, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and implementing security protocols to safeguard against potential threats.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop methods to support the patch management and deployment processes
- Coordinate with sites to schedule maintenance windows and verify proper testing process is followed
- Implement Windows updates and software updates as required
- Work weekends (Saturday and Sunday), with two days off the following week, except Monday
- Monitor and maintain the Windows Server landscape
- Monitor and maintain the CrowdStrike, Tanium and WSUS environments
- Implement security measures and protocols to safeguard the organization's IT infrastructure from potential threats and cyberattacks. This may include setting up firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls
- Constantly monitor the health and performance of IT systems to identify and address potential problems proactively. This may include performing routine maintenance tasks, applying software updates, and optimizing configurations
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network components. Troubleshooting may involve diagnosing problems, working with vendors, and collaborating with other IT specialists to find solutions
- Implement and manage data backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. This may include creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of system failures or emergencies
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. This may include generating reports on system performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry. Assess the potential benefits and drawbacks of new technologies to make informed recommendations to the organization
- User Support and Training: Assist end-users with technical issues and provide training on IT systems and tools. This may include developing user guides and conducting workshops to improve the overall technological literacy of the organization's staff
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Solid experience in managing and maintaining Windows Server environments
- 5 Years of relevant working experience in a Global IT Infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Endpoint protection for threat detection and response
- Experience in implementing and managing web security and cloud services such as Zscaler
- Administrative understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Familiarity with email security platforms, their administration and deployment
- Working knowledge of Certificate Authorities and digital certificates
- Experience with Office365 administration
- Proficiency in backup and replication technologies, such as Commvault, Veeam, and Zerto
- Solid understanding of VMware infrastructure and virtualization technologies
- Experience in managing multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes and incident management
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Preferred: Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, Net +, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar, VMWare VCP
