Summary  

The Systems Integration Engineer position provides operational support to CAE USA’s Program Deployment department. Responsibilities include hardware/software integration, configuration management, software modification and debugging, systems and network administration, test support and deployment of simulation training devices. Engineering skills in software integration and test are applied to help coordinate medium to large size projects with limited supervision while leading and teaching others. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Computer setup and configuration in both Windows and Linux environments. 

  • Apply security setting and patching to all systems.  (Computers, Network Switches, and various other devices on the network.) 

  • Run various security scanning tools and resolve issues and provide documentation. 

  • Perform Hardware/Software integration of all simulation components.  

  • Setup and configure the simulation IO system 

  • Write and Debug various software applications and drivers using a variety of languages. 

  • Assist others in debugging their software. 

  • Configuration Management of all software components using GIT. 

  • Answer question and assist all engineering teams during the life of the trainer. 

  • Work in both solo and team environments, sometimes remotely. 

  • Work closely with the customer while in-plant and on-site to resolve any issues. 

  • Provide design advice to improve our product. 

  • Attend various meetings. 

  • Take a leadership role. 

  • Willingness to travel. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements  

  • B S degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. All communications must be in English.   

  • Software development in various languages (C, C++, C#, possibly Ada, possibly FORTRAN). 

  • Expert at computer systems setup including hardware and software installation, setup of Windows and Linux Operating Systems and identification/resolution of computer system issues (PCI bus conflicts, device drivers, etc.). 

  • Computer interfaces (video, Ethernet, serial). 

  • Expert at managing large scale software development and configuration management. 

  • Network administration using Cisco switches. 

  • Windows Server administration/security relevant policy deployment. 

  • Computer Systems environments (environment variables, shells, registry settings) 

  • Windows batch files. 

  • Linux shell scripts. 

  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft interfaces (1553, ARINC) and experience debugging these interfaces. 

  • Advanced knowledge of simulation I/O (DI, DO, synchro, resolver, encoder) with hands on experience in at least one type of I/O platform (VMIC, UEI, etc.). 

  • Advanced knowledge of serial interfaces (RS232, RS422, RS485),  

  • Knowledge of testing equipment (digital mustimeter, oscilloscope) and how to use the equipment to debug problems. 

  • Support of testing events and resolution of all testing faults. 

  • Participates in simulation architecture boards and helps drive the design based on expert knowledge of systems.  

  • Minimum of 9 years work experience in flight simulation. 

  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

  • Must be willing to travel up to 35%. 

  • Must be willing to work extended hours (with OT pay). 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

Preferred Skills  

  • Motion and Controls experience. 

  • Other scripting languages (Python, Perl). 

  • Security relevant accreditations (CISSP, SSCP, A+) 

 

Security Responsibilities  

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.  

 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

Work Environment  

  • Must be able to travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites.  

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

  • Moderate to high levels of stress, associated with technical, schedule, and customer issues are to be expected with this position. Extended work hours and possible 2nd and 3rd shift assignments will be encountered.   

  • Should be familiar with and be able to operate simulation training devices such as: full flight motion devices, maintenance training devices, entertainment devices and fixed base training devices.   

  • Should be familiar with and able to support Engineering or Operations staff on any type and sub-component of training devices. 

  • Must be willing to work overtime 

 

Physical Demands  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   

  • May be required to sit down for long lengths of time. 

  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.
