Job Description

Office of Information Services

The Office of Information Services (OIS) works to support the business functions and the delivery of health, human, and employment services through the application of information technology. OIS supports the delivery of programs to millions of recipients through the development and round-the-clock operation of automated information systems. What You’ll Do

The primary role of the Application Security Analyst is to ensure agency applications are secure from exploitation, fraud, and intrusion. This role monitors security logs and alerts generated by security tools and systems. You will investigate and analyze security incidents and escalate as necessary to ensure timely resolution. This position will work closely with the development teams and business units to integrate security controls such as requirements and testing into the SDLC process and IT projects. You will need to stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and trends, and assess their potential impact on our organization, providing recommendations for proactive mitigation.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Configure, support, and monitor enterprise security tools
  • Characterize and monitor network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats
  • Determine weaknesses exploited and exploitation methods of intrusions
  • Test information assurance safeguards
  • Implement data security principles
  • Participate in development of archive policies

Schedule: Currently Monday through Friday work from Home, 8 hour shifts between 7AM-6PM as determined supervisor based on team needs.

Travel: May require very occasional in-person work for trainings, meetings, and other operational needs.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following: 

OPTION 1:

  • 3 years experience in computer data security either through: monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, or system development, or controlling accessibility of data.

Option 2:

  • Successful completion of Associates core program in computer science

AND 

  • 18 months experience in computer data security either through: monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, or system development, or controlling accessibility of data.


Option 3

  • Successful completion of undergraduate core program in computer science

AND 

  • 12 months experience in computer data security either through: monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, or system development, or controlling accessibility of data.

Option 4

  • 12 months experience as an Information Technology Apprentice, (job code 69910)  

AND

  • Completion of Ohio Cyber Apprenticeship Program

AND

  • 12 months experience in Information Systems/Information Technology with Focus on one of the following areas: software engineering/development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, or IT Security.

Or

  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 34. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $35.31 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

Supplemental Information

Telework Policy

ODJFS may require occasional in-person meetings for training or other operational needs. You will have access to ODJFS shared workspaces, if needed. Employees are required to sign a teleworking agreement upon their first day. Schedules are subject to change based on the agency’s operational needs and telework status. Telework is considered a privilege and agreements are reviewed annually.
