We are seeking a passionate Head of Legal, Compliance & Sustainability who will ensure compliance by properly managing legal, regulatory, ethical, compliance and sustainability matters in a pragmatic risk based approach. You will run a lean internal organization and advise on legal, regulatory or compliance matters at Group level and ensure the implementation of the sustainability strategy.

Your tasks

  • Ensuring company-wide adherence to compliance and legal requirements
  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Develop and propose effective defense strategies
  • Identifying legal and compliance risks and providing advice
  • Provide accurate and timely advice on a variety of legal and compliance matters
  • Ensure employees are trained and coached on compliance and legal, compliance and sustainability issues
  • Maintain and update internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance to prevent inappropriate, unethical and illegal behavior
  • Drafting and strengthening agreements, contracts and other legal documents
  • Addressing violations of rules, regulations and policies and reviewing and proposing the initiation of investigative procedures
  • Identify, receive and refer compliance issues for investigation and resolution
  • Apply effective risk management and proactively advise on risk mitigation, business continuity concepts, cyber security measures, information/data protection concepts and potential legal issues
  • Investigate and evaluate various risk factors related to business decisions and operations
  • Ensures compliance with embargo rules of US, CH, DE and EU and the applicable local regulations
  • Ensures compliance with EHS regulations and policies as well as awareness and training of employees.
  • Acts as point of expertise in EHS matters and ensures organizational setup, processes and reporting.
  • Representing the company in legal or compliance matters to third parties
  • Develop the sustainability strategy in line with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure that the sustainability strategy is maintained, updated and implemented

Your profile

  • Law degree of one of the EU Member States
  • +5 years of work experience handling legal matters in an in-house role
  • Deep knowledge of international, European and local laws and regulations as well as industry standards and compliance regulations
  • Experience in setting up a sustainability strategy and the implementation thereof
  • A practical, business-oriented approach to identifying and solving business and compliance problems with the ability to act with urgency and passion
  • Proficiency in English and one other European language is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with privacy and data privacy laws in Europe
  • Excellent research, writing, negotiation, counselling and communications skills and a positive client service orientation
  • Willingness to pitch-in and help on legal projects across the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • ability to balance compliance with the competing demands of the business.
  • Accountability, sound judgment and the ability to take ownership of an issue and provide concise and timely advice
  • Integrity, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Very high affinity in the area of digitalization and in leading project organizations, strongly developed cross-linked thinking and doer mentality
