The Security Operations Lead will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of Hume's information systems and assets, protecting Hume from cyber threats and maintaining compliance with relevant legislations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Information Security L5 - Defining and operating a framework of security controls and security management strategies.
  • Provides advice and guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks and ensure adoption and adherence to standards.
  • Contributes to development of information security policy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Obtains and acts on vulnerability information and conducts security risk assessments, business impact analysis and accreditation on complex information systems. Investigates major breaches of security and recommends appropriate control improvements.
  • Risk management L3 - Defining and operating a framework of security controls and security management strategies.
  • Security Operations L5 - Delivering management, technical and administrative services to implement security controls and security management strategies.
  • Incident Management L4 - Coordinating responses to incident reports, minimising negative impacts and restoring service.
  • Vulnerability assessment L4 - Identifying and classifying security vulnerabilities in networks, systems and applications and mitigating or eliminating their impact.
  • Configuration management L4 - Planning, identifying, controlling, accounting for and auditing of configuration items (CIs) and their interrelationships.
  • Penetration testing L5 - Testing the effectiveness of security controls by emulating the tools and techniques of likely attackers.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to solve complex Cybersecurity challenges.
  • Understands the organisation’s overall strategic objectives, the legal, economic, and political factors that influence the Cybersecurity landscape.
  • Skilled in the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity technologies, with a focus on advancing the organisation's security maturity. Actively seeks opportunities for continuous improvement to strengthen and enhance the overall security posture.
  • Experience and knowledge of IT governance, cybersecurity, risk, and compliance requirements in ICT, including in-depth knowledge of industry standard security frameworks e.g. ISO 27001, E8, VDPSF etc.
  • Ability to persuade, convince or negotiate with clients, members of the public and employees when required.
  • Communicates authoritatively at all levels across Hume to both technical and non-technical audiences articulating security and business objectives.
