Team Intro
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Security Engineer to join our network security team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is passionate about cybersecurity and eager to learn from experienced professionals. The Network Security Engineer will assist in the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of the organization's network security systems, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical data and systems.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by your manager/work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Develop and implement network policies and procedures to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Proactively monitor network performance and resolve issues to maintain optimal network uptime.
- Manage network capacity planning and recommend upgrades and enhancements as needed.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, analyzing root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Ensure the security of network infrastructure by implementing firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and deploy new network solutions.
- Plan and execute network changes, upgrades, and migrations with minimal disruption to operations.
- Manage the configuration and integration of WAN/LAN environments, including MPLS, SD-WAN, and cloud networks.
- Oversee network documentation, including architecture diagrams, device configurations, and network policies.
- Mentor network engineers, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest networking technologies, trends, and certifications to maintain cutting-edge knowledge.
- Network Security Monitoring: Assist in monitoring network traffic, logs, and security alerts using tools such as SIEM systems, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Incident Response Support: Participate in responding to security incidents by investigating and reporting on potential breaches, and assisting with remediation efforts.
- Vulnerability Scanning & Assessment: Conduct vulnerability scans and assist in identifying and documenting potential security risks within the network.
- Security Patch Management: Support the implementation of security patches and updates on network devices, ensuring systems remain up-to-date and protected.
- Firewall & Access Control: Assist in configuring and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, and network access control devices to ensure a secure network environment.
- Security Documentation: Help maintain and update network security documentation, including configurations, processes, and incident reports.
- Security Awareness: Collaborate with the team to support the development and delivery of security awareness training for employees, helping promote best security practices.
- Collaborative Troubleshooting: Work with the IT and network teams to troubleshoot basic security issues and escalate more complex problems to senior engineers when necessary.
