Why look for a job when you can look for a purpose?

A job with purpose is more than just a job. After all, your next move determines your everyday life. So what about creating positive change? What about impacting your future and that of millions of others in ways you may never have imagined? Curious? We hope so.

Let's introduce ourselves

At Volvo Cars, we shape the future of mobility. Our mission is to make life easier, better, and safer for everyone—working towards a better future. To achieve our company goals, it is of utmost importance to safeguard our organization's information assets, ensure the security of our IT infrastructure, and ensure that all employees follow best practices in information security. This role isn’t for everyone, but if you’re excited about tackling the security challenges facing the auto industry and society at large, you might be the perfect fit.

What you'll do

As Head of Cyber Security, you will play a key strategic role in overseeing and leading the group’s global cybersecurity initiatives. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, policies, regulations, and legislation. Success in this role requires excellent relationship-building skills with business and digital leaders across the organization. Strong communication abilities and the capacity to engage effectively with a diverse and widespread community of colleagues are essential.

You will inspire and promote a culture of robust information security, fostering broad organizational change to enhance security awareness. Your scope will include two critical areas: the Cyber Defense Center and Cyber Security Governance & Advisory.

Additionally, you will ensure that business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and routinely tested to maintain resilience.

Another vital aspect of this role will be increasing overall awareness of information security across the organization. You will ensure that our more than 40,000 employees are well-informed about emerging cyber threats and equipped to avoid security breaches. Developing and implementing an effective cybersecurity awareness and training program will be a key objective in this role.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience in leading cybersecurity within large, global organizations, with the ability to both develop and execute strategies effectively.
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and a strong track record of successfully implementing it across an organization.
  • A visionary mindset with a deep understanding of evolving cyber threats and the ability to anticipate future challenges.
  • Strong technical understanding of how to leverage company resources and technology to protect data, assets, and systems effectively.
  • Firm grasp of the changing cybersecurity threat landscape and its implications for the organization.
  • Solid understanding of the current challenges in the digital landscape of a manufacturing company, with the ability to evaluate threats, make informed risk decisions, allocate organizational resources effectively, and address future cybersecurity challenges.
  • Extensive business acumen, ensuring business risks are managed appropriately and that security measures align with and support the group’s overall strategy.
  • Strong crisis management skills, capable of providing clarity to critical internal and external stakeholders during security incidents.
  • A leader known for integrity and strategic foresight, who makes transparent and consistent decisions while prioritizing the organization's best interests.
  • Skilled at building strong relationships, demonstrating exceptional emotional intelligence, and communicating clearly and persuasively.
  • A passionate leader with the ability to coach individuals and teams to achieve higher performance levels.
