Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior System Administrator to manage and enhance our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in server management, networking, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Microsoft 365, VMWare, and IT security. You will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our IT systems and infrastructure, while mentoring junior team members and leading projects to drive our technology strategy forward.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Infrastructure Management
- Manage, configure, and maintain servers (Windows) to ensure high availability and performance.
- Administer and optimize virtualization platforms, primarily using VMware.
- Design, deploy, and manage SAN solutions, including provisioning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor and manage system performance, ensuring timely resolutions to any issues.
Networking
- Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise-level networking hardware and protocols (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls).
- Ensure network security and availability, implementing best practices for redundancy and disaster recovery.
Cloud & Collaboration Platforms
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Lead migration projects, integrations, and optimizations of cloud-based services.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard systems, data, and infrastructure.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, manage patching schedules, and oversee incident response.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ISO, GDPR).
Leadership & Project Management
- Lead infrastructure upgrade projects from planning to execution, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and IT staff.
- Document processes, policies, and system configurations for operational continuity.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a healthcare setting desired, but not required.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in system administration, including servers, SAN, and networking.
- Expertise in VMware vSphere, and vCenter.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Exchange Online.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and hardware (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Demonstrated experience in IT security, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and incident response.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
Preferred Certifications
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Administrator
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
