Security Engineer

The Opportunity: 

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in cybersecurity? As a systems security and network security engineer, you can leverage your experience to identify the appropriate tools and questions needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to oversee the development and implementation of security solutions that will ensure compliance and upholding of our security posture. 

On our team, you’ll supervise a team as they troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of cybersecurity in the cloud. You’ll manage the research of technology and market trends to further develop security solutions. Using your expertise in cloud-based technologies, you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.  

In this role, you’ll directly impact the Booz Allen Chief Technology Office (CTO) by supporting our implementation of the CTO tech strategy and ensuring our solutions and capabilities are secure. What You’ll Work On: 

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management. 

  • Manage infrastructure and cyber security controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.  

  • Lead risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas.

  • Leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

You Have:   

  • Experience with secure systems development practices, including principle of least privilege, secrets management, static code analysis, and artifact development or management

  • Experience with cybersecurity concepts, including threats, vulnerabilities, security operations, patching, boundary defense, auditing, authentication, and software supply chain risk management

  • Experience with secure configuration guidelines, including DoD STIGs and CIS benchmarks

  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and NIST-190 

  • Knowledge of AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Service Mesh, ISTIO, and Zero Trust Architecture

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, or 12+ years of experience in cybersecurity in lieu of a degree

  • DoD 8570 IAM Level III or AWS Security Architect Certification 

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience delivering AWS cloud solutions in complex government environments

  • Experience with YAML and log management

  • Experience with Git, GitHub, or GitLab

  • Experience Scripting Languages

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies

  • Knowledge of secure cloud scripting processes such as HashiCorp Terraform

  • Knowledge of Day #2 Operations as it relates to DevSecOps maturity and security processes

  • Ability to lead teams across multiple services in dynamic and varying compliance and security environments

  • SysOps Administrator, Developer, or DevOps Engineer Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
