Data Centre Engineer

LOCATION:  Dusseldorf

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Centre Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of our data centre infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining optimal system performance.

Responsibilities:

System Administration:

• Manage and maintain server, storage, and network infrastructure.
• Perform routine system health checks and troubleshooting.
• Implement and maintain system security measures.
• Monitor system performance and optimize resource utilization.

Hardware Support:

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware components.
• Perform hardware repairs and replacements as needed.
• Maintain inventory of hardware assets.

Network Support:

• Configure and troubleshoot network devices (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Monitor network performance and identify potential issues.
• Implement network security measures.

Incident Response:

• Respond to system alerts and incidents promptly.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Escalate critical issues to appropriate teams.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and procedures.
• Create knowledge base articles to share best practices.

Capacity Planning:

• Analyse system resource utilization and identify potential capacity bottlenecks.
• Plan and implement capacity upgrades as needed.

Qualifications:

• Business Level verbal and written German language skills (ideally C1 level)
• Strong understanding of server, storage, and network technologies.
• Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• IT certifications (e.g., MCSA, CCNA) preferred.
