The opportunity
As the Global Head of Security, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding ING. Your strategic leadership will be pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of our employees, premises, and assets. You will craft and implement cutting-edge safety and security policies, control standards, procedures, and instructions to shield us from any threats and risks.
In this dynamic role, you will forge strong relationships with local security experts, drive technical standardisation, and elevate our safety and security readiness to new heights. Collaborating closely with other departments, you will ensure our measures not only meet regulatory requirements but also set industry benchmarks.
The Team
From day one, you will take charge of designing, building, and leading a new dynamic hybrid team of safety and security professionals. Strategically positioning this team at the core of our organisation will be crucial for adopting a centralised approach, optimising operational effectiveness, regulatory monitoring, and leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Craft and execute visionary safety and security strategies to mitigate risks and protect our invaluable employees and assets.
- Policy Development: Pioneer comprehensive safety and security policies, control standards, and procedures that set the benchmark in the industry.
- Security Management: Spearhead the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of cutting-edge safety and security systems.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct proactive risk assessments and reviews to uncover vulnerabilities, implement enhancements, and fortify our defences.
- Incident Response: Develop and deploy dynamic incident response plans to swiftly address safety and security breaches, emergencies, and other incidents, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum protection.
- Team Leadership: Inspire and lead a team of dedicated safety and security professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to achieve excellence and adherence to protocols.
- Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, including facilities management, IT, legal, and compliance teams, to seamlessly integrate security measures into broader organisational strategies.
- Vendor Management: Strategically manage third-party security and safety vendors, contractors, and service providers, nurturing relationships and ensuring compliance with agreements and quality standards.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee the security budget, optimising resource allocation to meet objectives while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Travel Security: Offer expert travel advice and support to business travellers, ensuring their safety and security on the go.
- Event Security: Innovate and implement a global event safety and security risk process and tool, creating safe and secure events with meticulous documentation and reporting.
- Executive Protection: Establish comprehensive safety and security measures for the protection of executives, covering travel, transport, events, office, and residence, with 24/7 incident response.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay ahead of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring compliance and proactively addressing changes.
- Intelligence: Maintain a robust intelligence position to identify emerging threats and risks, monitor the global security landscape, and assess relevant developments.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in a financial institution or similarly regulated industry.
- Experienced in change management and scaling organizations.
- Experience in vendor management and negotiations.
- Strong understanding of security technologies and systems, with experience in their implementation and management.
- Robust understanding of, and solid experience with, personal and physical security, and safety principles and their impact on the mitigation of threats against people, assets, and information.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to safety and security.
- Performs incident management anytime and anywhere, inclusive from non-office locations and during non-business hours.
- Ability and willingness to be on call 24/7 to respond to company-related security emergencies.
- International travel and work experience, past international residence or posting preferred, global experiences a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to drive results in a complex, multicultural environment and at different leadership levels.
- Proven track record of building strong teams with ability to motivate team members.
- Strong strategic and tactical skills and ability to see the bigger picture.
- Confident and able to deliver written and verbal presentations to senior and executive management.
- Partnership with internal departments and ability to manage communication and relationship with government agencies including excellent written skills.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and strategic approach to security risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) preferred.
- Fluent in English, both verbally as in writing.
