Introduction

ASML's Central Privacy Office - based in Veldhoven - is looking for an Intern. The Privacy Office (15 colleagues) is part of Legal & Compliance (100+ colleagues) and acts as a focal point for all privacy and personal data protection matters within ASML. ASML has adopted a dual layer approach by establishing a dedicated Privacy Office that works in conjunction with a Privacy Network located across the business.


Some of the Privacy Office key focus points include:

  • Defining the privacy strategy and framework;

  • Leading, overseeing and continuously improving frameworks group-wide implementation;

  • Advising the organization on privacy and personal data protection related matters and risks (i.e. through DPIAs);

  • Defining privacy requirements, controls and embedding them into the organization,

  • Raising employee awareness and providing tailored training for specific functions; and

  • Handling privacy related requests and personal data breaches.


Your assignment

As a Privacy Office Intern you will actively take part in our team's day to day operations and contribute to our strategic initiatives. We offer you the opportunity to learn about privacy, data protection and how to navigate a large global organization through collaboration with experienced colleagues. Your tasks will be varied and based on your background and preferences. We will commit to giving you exposure to a challenging range of activities.


Key deliverables (might) include:

  • Draft responses to (ad hoc) questions concerning personal data handling and distribute incoming questions and activities to relevant colleagues;

  • Support the privacy risk assessment process and the data subject rights procedure;

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that aim to continuously improve the way of working of the team such as drafting a communications plan for training and awareness or defining a strategy for embedding privacy requirements in the organization's primary infrastructure using technology; and

  • Research new and ongoing regulatory and legal developments, determine what relevance they may have for ASML and present to our team.


This master apprentice internship is for 3-5 days per week (minimum 2 days working at the office), duration of months 6-12 months. The start date of this assignment is February 2025.
 

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a master student in the final year of a Legal degree with a passion for privacy and technology. You are following a Legal Masters program (such as, but not limited to Privacy & AI Law, Technology Law, Information Law, Digital Technologies Law, European Law);

  • Fluently English, both oral and written;

  • Effective communication and being able to connect with relevant stakeholders;

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention for details;

  • Ability to independently prioritize workload;

  • Team-player, as well the ability to work autonomously;

  • Hands-on mentality, proactive and self-motivated;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you ‘re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.

  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
