The ideal candidate will have a robust/expert technical background, proven leadership experience, and a keen understanding of digital marketing cloud strategies and cloud technologies. This role will be pivotal in designing, implementing, supporting, and managing GSK cloud-based Internet marketing solutions.
Purpose: The Associate Director– Digital Marketing Cloud Platform Architect & Engineering is a critical member of GSK Digital Marketing Cloud Platform Services team. This role is accountable for leading within and across technical teams for GSK Digital Marketing Cloud Hosting technical solution design, implementation & continuous improvement of Commercial D&T/GSK Internet Cloud systems in alignment with Agile and DevOps Principals, working closely with other Solution Architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Engineers, Release Managers and Product Directors.
This position is a “T-Shaped” role demonstrating both depth and breadth across key architect and engineer competencies e.g. Cloud Hosting, Solution Development, Innovation/Automation, Testing, DevSecOps, CI/CD and Lifecycle Management, etc. and the ability to successfully collaborate with technical experts from other subject domains.
The role will have deep knowledge and experience of GSK and industry Cloud and Internet technologies, practices and frameworks e.g. Cloud Hosting, Internet Services, IaaC, Adobe Experience Cloud, GIT, Jenkins, Google GCP, AWS, Azure clouds, Kanban, JavaScript, Python, Docker, Adobe Experience Manager, Tealium, Gigya, Terraform, etc.
In addition, the individual must be knowledgeable in Cloud Internet Architecture Design and Governance to support and educate others. They also act as a consultant between the engineering teams, UX/UI team, Strategic Partner support teams, and product owners and maintain a safe working environment for the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage GCC team of highly performing GSK Marketing Platform Engineers, Strategic Partner Support team, and Service Management.
Define and manage the adoption of the Internet Cloud standards and support that is successfully implemented across GSK Digital Marketing Services and other Tech Teams simultaneously.
Works as a leader within Digital Marketing Platform Services team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive technical standards, architecture and decision making and support organizational Cloud technical, project or product teams.
Contributes and aligns solutions to the Digital Marketing Platform roadmap, Target Architecture working closely with various GSK Enterprise Architecture teams.
The continuous delivery of technology solutions from product roadmaps adopting SRE, Agile, and DevOps Principals.
Ensures that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards
Ensures use of relevant Commercial D&T / central services and collaborating with service partners in identification and delivery of service improvements
Supports product teams to deliver value continuously, fostering and maintaining close links with customers, related Solution groups e.g. Global Therapy Areas, Marketing Operations Center (MOC), Design Center (DC) and GP&T
Manages and keeps relevant technical documentation up to date in support of the lifecycle plans and always ready for audits/reviews.
Pro-actively engages in experimentation and innovation to drive relentless improvement e.g. to Cloud Hosting, UX/DQ/DI and reducing technical debt/risk
Provides leadership, technical direction and GSK expertise to teams composed of GSK FTEs, strategic partners and software vendors
Contributes to release planning and roadmaps working closely with Digital Marketing stakeholders.
Contributes to the advancement, visibility, and improvement of Cloud Hosting practices within the organization (DevSecOps, Cloud FinOps, Cyber Security, etc.)
Support the preparations, inputs & outputs of planning and working across Tech on Cloud strategy alignment, dependencies, risks and capacity
Cross team delivery: Mastery of complex facilitation and dependency management techniques (cross team, cross department)
Architectural Leadership:
Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance digital marketing cloud architectures.
Lead the architectural design and implementation of cloud-based marketing platforms, ensuring alignment with GSK's strategic goals.
Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform.
Technical Expertise:
Provide hands-on technical leadership and expertise in cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure and AWS.
Oversee the development and deployment of marketing technology hosting platform solutions.
Ensure the integration of various digital marketing tools and platforms to create a seamless technology ecosystem.

Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, architects, strategic partner support analyst to deliver innovative digital marketing solutions.
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment through effective communication, coaching, and professional development.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery of digital marketing projects.
Digital Marketing Strategy:
Collaborate with cross-functional GSK Tech teams to define and execute digital marketing strategies.
Analyze Digital Marketing Platform data and metrics to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimization.
Drive the adoption of best practices in digital marketing, ensuring the efficient use of technology to achieve business objectives.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure that all digital marketing solutions comply with GSK and industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive GSK data and maintain data integrity.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
overall 15+years of exp & a minimum of 10 years of experience in digital marketing technology, cloud platforms and architecture, or related fields.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based marketing solutions using platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or AWS.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop high-performing technical teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about technology and its impact on business outcomes.
Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., GCP Certified, Microsoft Certified) are a plus.
Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required
Size, scope and scale of challenge necessitates a leader with the right proven experiences, strategic thinking and execution capabilities. Credibility (through experience) is essential to success in these roles.
Experience in Cloud and Internet Computing, DevSecOps, CI/CD engineering, IaaC, Automation (Test / Release)
Experience in solution design, program and product delivery and service management
Experience in delivering business impact through process and Cloud enabled solutions
Experience of vendor and Strategic Partner management
Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills
