Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The candidate for our internship program will be working with cybersecurity domain experts by joining our Product Security team and gain real world knowledge of the security needs of cutting edge surgical robotic systems. You will have the opportunity to participate in analysis, design, and development of security solutions for our products, as well as work on a security engineering project.
Essential Job Duties
As an intern in Product Security team at Intuitive Surgical, you will be
- Working on the design and development of security tools, solutions and features.
- Reviewing technical requirements, architecture, and interface design.
- Gaining first-hand experience on real world product security issues and designs.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Development experience with C/C++ and Python on Linux and Windows platforms
- Solid knowledge of security concepts regarding device, operating systems, firmware and software security.
- Decent understanding of embedded systems, software, and hardware-software interface
- Data analytics, statistical methods, machine learning algorithms a plus
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Passion to learn and grow and ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style
University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:
- University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
- Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.
Required Education and Training
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related degree-seeking program at the Master’s or Doctorate level with the specific focus on Information Security, Data Security and/or Embedded Systems Security

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay (paid at an hourly rate), benefits, and a housing allowance. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including relevant skills and experience for this internship, degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc), year in school, and location. The hourly rate is prorated against the intern program salaries listed and total program compensation will be based on internship duration.
