At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Cyber Security Analyst, a typical day will include the following duties:
GCI is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Analytics Specialist/Cyber Security Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will serve as part of a complex team that includes analysts, cyber experts, and engineers. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing and developing insights on complex dats sets, collaborating with personnel across the organization, and leveraging their technical expertise to support ongoing operations. The position requires a strong technical background and demonstrated experience with data mining of large an inter-related datasets. A candidate should provide examples supporting a strong understanding of network operations, trend identification and troubleshooting, and devised and deployed technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze network operations data to identity trends and insight
- Collaborate with personnel across the organization to develop and refine targeting strategies
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in network protocols and analysis tools.
- Conduct analysis of network traffic and system logs to identify potential security threats.
- Develop and implement scripts to automate tasks and improve efficiency
- Collaborate with team members to develop and refine operational concepts.
- Provide technical expertise to support the development of operational plans
Requirements:
- Experience with network protocols and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Experience identifying malware across multiple networks.
- Experience with network security concepts and threat analysis
- Understanding of network protocols and the OSI models.
- Demonstrated experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting/improving scripts (new and existing)
- Ability to conduct PCAP analysis
- Experience working with large/and/or ambiguous data sets
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git)
Work Environment:
- Chantilly, VA
- Short term travel may be required as needed
