Position Purpose

The Technical Counselor position represents the pinnacle of Info-Tech’s advisory services.  A dedicated relationship between member and analyst that moves beyond general and industry best practices to practical customization and adoption in the unique context of the member’s organization. 

The TC Analyst is expected to advise and assist their members by supplementing the best-in-class ITRG research with their own deep professional domain experience.  Where gaps in ITRG content are identified it is expected that the TC will help the member co-create the frameworks, processes, procedures, plans and other deliverables required for the member to succeed.  The TC will then feed these deliverables back into the ITRG research process to enhance the overall product.

Outwardly the TC Analyst is expected act as a mentor, peer and confidant to their members and as a thought leader in their field.  Inwardly, the TC should be the Voice of the Customer and an effective advocate for the enhancement of member experience.  Be that evolution or products and services, brand new offerings or general/overall member experience.   

 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Guide and provide insights to Infrastructure, Security & Operations Leaders. The main objective is to assist these leaders in delivering improved results by optimizing their practice and general decision making, identifying & mitigating risk, and addressing the struggles and challenges they face on the path to professional excellence.


Service Delivery (70%)

  • Offer specialized direct guidance as well as advisory oversight to a book of approximately of 20 members as assigned.
  • Build long term (no less than a year) candid relationships with assigned members
  • Engage in open-ended, value-driven client discussions to formulate innovative strategies for their success.
  • Deliver confidential and professional advice to our members through various mediums including written communication, in-person meetings, telephone calls, and digital platforms such as video conferencing.
  • Assess members' needs and collaborate with them to set goals and develop a strategic plan in accordance with the terms, conditions and entitlements of their Info-Tech Services agreement.
  • Identify members' value expectations and pain points and connect them with suitable Info-Tech Research Group product solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients' peers and key stakeholders to provide experiences that align with their objectives and organizational culture.
  • Participate in regular account planning activities with Sales Leadership, Managing Partners and Account Directors to co-ordinate and monitor member experience and growth.

Product Enhancement (20%)

  • Provide proactive thought leadership and new ideas not “asked for” on behalf of the client’s membership to Info-Tech product development teams (agenda planning, diagnostics, workshops, etc).
  • Generalize lessons learned from the field into consumable frameworks and thoughts models targeted by industry, complexity, maturity or other sorting criteria useful to Info-Tech members.   
  • Take an informal leadership role in relevant domain-based Info-Tech Communities of Practice.

Subject Matter Expertise (10%)

  • Embrace Info-Tech Research Group culture of continuous learning by participating in on-going self and industry development activities.
  • Initiate, solicit and participate in, interviews, webinars, roundtables, ITRG events, blogs, conference and any other media or exposure opportunities to promote your personal brand as well as that of ITRG

Education & Experience

  • Combination of academic education, industry and vendor certifications, professional accreditations and practical experience will be considered.
  • Possess a minimum of 15 years of professional IT experience at multiple organizations including leadership positions within Infrastructure, Security, Risk & Compliance, and Operations.

  • Strong verbal, written, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Independently manage multiple internal and external stakeholders with competing demands, conflicting timeline and overlapping deadlines
