The Work You Will Do:
DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for a highly skilled and analytical Systems Programmer III to join our team. This is a technical position that is pivotal in supporting, designing, installing, and operating a distributed network of infrastructure computers running Microsoft and/or Linux server operating systems in cloud environments. The primary focus is on Azure Entra and related Active Directory software and network protocols. This position will provide networking, and computer and cloud management support through scientific methods and available tools. The incumbent must be available to work after normal work hours, weekends and holidays for on-call duty status, as needed.

Pay: $56,650 - $62,000
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Support & Maintenance: Provide expert support and maintenance for a distributed network of servers running Microsoft and Linux operating systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Manage, configure, and maintain operating systems and application software for optimal performance of DEP servers and cloud systems. Integrate Active Directory services with other systems as needed. Ensure each system operates in compliance with IT standards, functions, methodologies, budgets, and applicable security protocols.
- Design & Installation: Assist with the design and installation of server infrastructure in cloud environments, particularly focusing on Azure Active Directory and associated services.
- Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of server environments, managing updates, patches, and configuration changes to ensure security and efficiency.
- Azure Active Directory Management: Administer and optimize Azure Active Directory and Active Directory Federated services, ensuring seamless integration and operation within the cloud environment.
- Network Protocols: Develop and maintain network protocols to support Active Directory services, ensuring efficient communication and data flow across the network.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to integrate systems, troubleshoot issues, and enhance overall IT infrastructure.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for server environments, configurations, procedures, and any changes made to the systems.
- Security: Understand key concepts and implementation of security measures to protect server environments from threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Customer Service: Identify and meet the needs of customers to provide excellent customer service and should be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and concerned always.
- Other: Perform related tasks as requested.
Attendance is an essential function of the position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with a strong focus on Microsoft server operating systems in cloud environments
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Power Shell, VB, bat files
- Knowledge of Active Directory Federated Services.
- Ability to install and configure software packages under Windows and Linux-based operating systems
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute for the required degree
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, or similar certifications
