Security Specialist - Department of Homeland Security

SMX is seeking a Security Specialist to provide fundamental knowledge in common security management. As a Security Specialist you will execute tasks and practices including Industrial, Personnel, Information, and Physical Security disciplines and provide a deep understanding of their interrelationships, as well as their related policies, programs, and procedures.

This position requires a DoD TS/SCI security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide experience in performing personnel and information security predominant responsibilities, to include developing an organizational approach to complying with the customer's mission and vision statement
• Work independently and closely with senior specialists or task leads
• Assist the customer in updating and commenting on security policies to include joint agreement and other projects
• Responsible for updating local policies in accordance with recently updated Intelligence Community and Departmental Policies and Directives 
• Collaborate in group environment with projects performing and supporting the clearance eligibility of government and contractor personnel

Required Skills & Experience

• Required clearance: TS/SCI
• Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years experience in collateral and intelligence activities
• Strong knowledge of security practices with emphasis in personnel, physical, information, and/or industrial security
• Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification desirable
• Proficiency in developing and championing innovative ideas and Policy and Procedure 
• Familiarity of working with government agencies and industry partners solutioning best practices, processes, and procedures

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices
• Key Experiences Include: integrated security services skill sets in the following areas:
  • Special Security Officer (SSO) Operations
  • Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) operations
  • SCI Personnel Security
  • SCI Information Security; SCI Physical Security
  • SCI TEMPEST
  • SCI Industrial Security

The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. The proposed salary for this position is:$105,000—$175,300 USD
