About This Role
Solutions Specialists at VMware by Broadcom provide technical leadership for customers’ strategic IT programs and initiatives. The Solution Specialist is responsible for discovering customer needs, architecting and demonstrating the value of VMware Cloud Foundation, and prescribing consumption and future state architecture and design plans for clients’ long-term success. You will lead and work closely with our customers, Client Executives, Pre-Sales peers, and Broadcom’s executive leadership team. The Solution Specialist is a high impact, very visible role responsible for ensuring adoption of the VCF solution within assigned accounts.
This Solution Specialist role is focused on Cloud Management, Orchestration and Automation, comprising domains of equal importance: automation, operations, and analytics. Outcomes include executing workshops, designing architectures, conducting client interviews, research, soliciting guidance from account teams and industry specialists, and working with technical specialists and product managers. In the Solution Specialist role, you will have the chance to leverage your architectural, design, engineering, and IT leadership skills, as well as your industry knowledge and Broadcom’s transformational portfolio, to shape the future of IT.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
● Within the first 3 months in role, you will be engaged in a variety of enablement and training designed to help you achieve proficiency in various technologies and concepts necessary for the role including:
○ VMware Cloud Foundation product knowledge and implementation
○ Oral, written, and presentation skills
○ Problem solving and critical-thinking skills
○ Shadowing peer team member in person and remotely
● Within the first 6 weeks, you will begin working with assigned territory account leaders for technical validation efforts for customers and broadening your network and reach within the organization
● Within 9-12 months you will be proficient in leading technical validations efforts for customers across the Cloud Management capabilities of the VCF solution set.
● Within 9-12 months you will have opportunity to engage in additional projects to enhance your personal growth and expand your contribution throughout the organization
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
● You will join sales teams in leading customers through architecture and discovery calls in the pre-sales process to determine interest and viability of solving customer problems leveraging the VMware Cloud Foundation solution.
● You will lead in product conversation highlighting key product features, benefits and capabilities.
● Work collaboratively with Product Management, Technical Marketing and Engineering during the development, launch, and continuing refinement of VMware products
● Lead the development of customer VCF consumption plans and future state architecture for VMware by Broadcom key Corporate customers.
● Understand the customer's business objectives, IT initiatives, and IT environment and match them with VMware’s value proposition, vision, technologies and services in order to create a value outcome based solution.
● Coordinate solution proposals with potential partners, VARs and software vendors.
● Participate in the identification, qualification and prioritization of an opportunity pipeline.
● Document best practices & architectural references in developing and deploying VMware Cloud solutions
● Collaborate with the sales and pre-sales teams, specialists, and service sales organization throughout opportunities and in development stages
● Pro-actively maintain expertise of VMware technologies via provided enablement and internal training offerings.
● Maintain deep technical knowledge of Cloud solutions, industry directions, DevOps, trends, and competitive offerings
● With your pre-sales counterparts you will conduct workshops with customer stakeholders to identify business and technical requirements, current state gaps, as well as opportunities and inhibitors.
● With your pre-sales counterparts, you will participate in demos and proof of concepts for customers
REQUIRED SKILLS:
● Twelve (12) or more years of Information Technology experience.
● IT Team/Departmental Leadership OR pre-sales customer facing experience.
● Lead the technical pre-sales community discussions and facilitate knowledge dissemination to the VMware and Partner Subject Matter Experts with regards to VMware products in conjunction with VMware Cloud Foundation solutions and architectures
● Experience with IT automation and configuration management solutions. Some examples include - Aria Automation and Operations
● Experience in developing, positioning, and implementing business aligned IT strategies, architectures, roadmaps, and proposals.
● Strong relationship building skills.
● Ability to embrace and keep up with the rapid change of pace in the industry
Ability to uncover business challenges via question-based selling skills and develop a custom solution to solve those challenges
● Ability to effectively present to audiences and adjust to level of role and understanding. Including executive audiences.
● Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
● Broad, domain level architectural understanding of:
o Current IT Trends
o IT Transformation and Modernization Technologies and Practices
o Cloud Computing
o IT Infrastructure and Data Center Design
o Platform Design and Architecture
o IT Processes
o IT Governance
o IT Roles & Responsibilities
o IT Business drivers and financial operations
PREFERRED SKILLS:
● BA/BS required with Masters Preferred or Equivalent Industry Experience.
● Professional experience building out solutions with VMware technologies and cloud-based technologies.
● Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
● Solution design, implementation, and consultation experience.
● Advanced certifications (Examples include: ITIL, CISSP, VCP, VCDX) a plus.
● Experience in technology related areas including: enterprise systems management and infrastructure (datacenter) architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical business infrastructure.
● The individual should have extensive architectural skills dealing with infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity.
● Strong technical proficiency with both mainstream and emerging automation and configuration management solutions. Some examples include - Aria Automation and Operations, vCenter Orchestrator, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Openstack, RedHat, Ansible, Salt, Docker, Github, etc. We don’t need you to know them all, but you must be good with something here already to be a reasonable candidate.
Location & Travel
This is a home office-based position with candidates residing in the greater Texas, or USA Western state
Travel: Up to 50% to customer sites and conferences as needed. Most travel will be regional.

Compensation and Benefits
The On Target Earnings (OTE) range for this position is $148,000 - $262,000.
OTE includes Sales Incentive Commission in accordance with relevant plan documents. This position is also eligible for equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
