Cloud SecOps Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL preferred but can be hired in one of our other hub locations: Denver, CO; DC metro area, CA (Bay area), Austin, TX and will be hybrid

The Cloud Secops Engineer will be critical in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of Deepwatch’s cloud-hosted environments. This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud platforms, automation tools, and CI/CD processes. You will work closely with application development, cloud operations, and security teams to deliver highly available and optimized solutions for Deepwatch’s services. This position is hybrid, and the candidate is expected to commute at least 3 days a week to our corporate office in Tampa, Florida.

In this role, you’ll get to:

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure
  • Optimize cloud services such as EC2, EKS, Lambda, S3, and VPCs for high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency
  • Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible

DevOps and CI/CD:

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure and efficient deployment processes
  • Automate workflows for provisioning, configuration, and deployment of applications and infrastructure
  • Implement robust testing and release strategies to ensure seamless integration and deployment

Monitoring and Incident Management:

  • Configure and manage monitoring tools to ensure system health, performance, and availability
  • Develop alerting mechanisms and respond to incidents to minimize downtime and ensure rapid recovery
  • Create playbooks for incident response and troubleshooting, improving the team’s response capabilities

Security and Compliance:

  • Work closely with security teams to enforce best practices, including access control, audit trails, and vulnerability management
  • Implement security checks into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure adheres to compliance frameworks, such as CIS benchmarks

Collaboration and Support:

  • Partner with development and operations teams to align infrastructure and deployment strategies with business goals
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members on cloud and DevOps practices
  • Collaborate on optimizing cloud spending and implementing cost-saving measures

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and security
  • Develop scripts and automation to improve deployment, maintenance, and monitoring workflows
  • Participate in retrospectives and contribute to ongoing process improvements

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure environments through automation. Having GCP experience is a plus
  • Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
  • Strong knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, Prometheus, or CloudWatch)
  • Solid understanding of security best practices, including access management and vulnerability mitigation
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud environments
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef
  • Experience optimizing cloud costs using AWS Cost Explorer or Azure Cost Management tools
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)

ITAR Compliance

The anticipated salary range for this role is $120,000 to $180,000 + stock options + benefits. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
