In this position...
Seeking a highly motivated security platform engineer with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills who can work with a global team to engineer, deploy, and support end to end solutions in the cloud and in our data centers for Ford's Cyber Security organization.
The Security Platform Engineer will be responsible for engineering, developing, maintaining, and optimizing the infrastructure and platform that Cyber Security uses to detect and respond to company cyber threats.
This role involves close collaboration with security analysts, incident responders, and other engineering teams to ensure the robustness and effectiveness of our security platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable security platforms and infrastructure to support cyber threat detection and response initiatives.
- Provide engineering and operational support for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of security tools and technologies.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline security operations and enhance detection and response capabilities.
- Monitor the performance and health of security platforms, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Collaborate with security analysts to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
- Integrate various data sources and security tools to improve threat detection and response workflows.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Stay abreast of the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the security posture of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in security engineering, platform engineering, or a related role within an enterprise technology environment.
- 3+ years of experience with Data Protection Solutions such as Broadcom, Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, Trellix, and Proofpoint
- 3+ years of experience with Unix-based Operating Systems
- Knowledge of CI and CD and tool sets like GitHub, Nexus, Artifactory, Jenkins, Tekton, and Travis CI is preferred.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of network security, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, MITRE and GDPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of security technologies and tools, including SIEM/SOAR/UEBA, Information Protection, and Data Loss Prevention
- Experience with Google Cloud infrastructure provisioning, including VPC, Subnet, Gateway, Security groups, Google Cloud SQL, Kubernetes, CloudRun, etc.
- Expertise with automating infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer, and Ansible.
- Expertise with patch management and APM tools like Dynatrace, GCP Cloud Monitoring, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk for monitoring and alerting.
