National Grid is hiring a Endpoint Security Lead Engineer for our IT & Digital department. This a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA or Brooklyn, NY.
Job Purpose
National Grid are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Endpoint Security Engineer to join or Cyber Security team. The role is responsible for designing, implementing and managing endpoint security strategies to protect National Grid’s devices and data. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with leadership skills to oversee the development and deployment of endpoint protection solutions while mentoring and guiding a team of security engineers.
Key Accountabilities
The Endpoint Security Lead Engineer role is a hands-on position with no direct people management responsibilities. The successful candidate will work with the Endpoint Security Manager and senior leadership to define the endpoint security strategy, and work with Security Engineers on its delivery.
As Endpoint Security Lead Engineer your responsibilities will include:
Endpoint Security Strategy and Design
- Develop and execute endpoint security strategies, policies and best practices
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions
Implementation and Operations
- Oversee the implementation and configuration of endpoint security tools across diverse device types (laptops, desktop, mobile devices, IoT, servers)
Leadership and collaboration
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for endpoint security, providing guidance to team members and other departments
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team of security engineers, fostering skill development and ensuring alignment with security goals
- Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and security teams to integrate endpoint security into broader organisational security initiative
Qualifications
• Proven experience in endpoint security management or a related cyber security role (at least five years)
• Hands on expertise with endpoint protection platforms (e.g., Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, Symantec, McAfee)
• Familiarity with IT asset management and device configurations management tools
Skills
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
• In-depth understanding of endpoint security principles and technologies
• Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and mobile platforms (iOS, Android)
• Proficiency in scripting and automation for security tasks
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Education
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+< or SANS GIAC (preferred)
