Cybersecurity Specialist - 25014
Quito, Ecuador
World Wildlife Fund
Company Description
WWF-Ecuador is a member of a global network active in more than 100 countries, and in Ecuador it was the first world organization to invest in conservation in 1962. Currently, WWF in Ecuador focuses on three strategic and complementary lines of action, in order to work towards a more inclusive, safe and healthy future for Ecuadorians: I) responsible markets and sustainable local livelihoods, II) conservation of species and ecosystems, III) mobilization of society in favor of sustainability.
WWF seeks to ensure healthy ecosystems that provide ecosystem services and sustain the communities and societies that depend on them. A healthy ecosystem depends on the state of its biodiversity, and it is essential to ensure multiple populations of species at densities that allow ecologically significant interactions.
To achieve this objective, WWF has a long-term commitment to conservation and does so from a comprehensive approach, focusing its efforts on priority species that are threatened and are also ecologically, economically and culturally important. These species have characteristics that integrate comprehensive functions. Thus, the conservation of umbrella species benefits a wide range of concurrent species, and therefore, the ecosystem as a whole. Some of the priority species for WWF-Ecuador are: the jaguar and pink dolphin in the Amazon; the mountain tapir in the Andean foothills; and sharks, rays and sea turtles in the oceans.
Conserving these species depends on generating information about their populations and habitat, as well as information that allows us to improve the understanding of their threats. Based on research, cross-cutting strategies are developed that include actions to reduce direct threats, such as indiscriminate hunting and fishing, and initiatives to conserve and restore habitats.
