THE JOB:
The Director of Security Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the Security Department operates effectively and efficiently, with a commitment to maximizing the safety of employees and guests. By fostering high levels of engagement, this leader provides essential oversight for major events and special projects, while conducting thorough security risk assessments and threat analyses for the assigned MGM Resorts International property or venue. With a focus on enhancing profitability, the Director demonstrates strong leadership, sound judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills in decision-making and problem-solving, inspiring a safe and inviting environment for all.


THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • The role involves comprehensive oversight of daily security operations, aimed at ensuring a well-structured and efficient approach to various critical functions, including staffing, extensive training programs, event management, incident response, and administrative tasks. This responsibility encompasses the development of meticulously detailed schedules and operational plans that facilitate seamless functionality across all areas.

  • Conducts in-depth evaluations of ongoing security training programs to ensure their effectiveness. This process includes a thorough examination of standard operating procedures, preliminary investigation techniques, emergency response protocols, management practices, fire and life safety training, and interactions with guests to ensure service excellence. Based on these evaluations, enhancements to procedures and policies are actively developed and implemented, effectively addressing and rectifying any identified operational shortcomings or service gaps.

  • Maintains rigorous compliance with all MGMRI policies, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This includes a systematic approach to communicating any updates or changes in policies and procedures to all security personnel and property management teams. By doing so, ensures that every operational aspect adheres strictly to legal mandates and organizational standards, thereby minimizing risk and liability.

  • Establishes and upholds a consistent and comprehensive patrolling regimen throughout the property or venue. This involves strategically monitoring all designated areas to ensure thorough oversight and response capabilities. Additionally, manages a diverse fleet of security resources effectively and oversees various security operation programs, including the Lost and Found initiative. Proactively enforces preventive measures throughout the property to mitigate risks and ensure a safe environment for all guests and staff.

  • Collaborates closely with the Chief of Security (COS) to identify and assess critical threats to safety and security. This involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting intelligence data at the property level, diligently monitoring ongoing incidents, and evaluating their potential impact on the organization, employees, customers, and facilities. This proactive approach ensures the formulation of prompt and effective responses to any security-related challenges that may arise.

  • Focuses on cultivating and developing high-performing security teams through a comprehensive suite of targeted recruitment strategies, intensive training and certification programs, personalized coaching sessions, detailed performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development opportunities. By identifying and adopting industry-leading best practices, innovative methodologies, and state-of-the-art security equipment, consistently meets or exceeds established performance expectations, enhancing overall team effectiveness.

  • Engages in close collaboration with key internal stakeholders across cross-functional Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to create both short-term and long-term strategic initiatives. These efforts are aimed at crafting memorable and unique experiences for guests while ensuring that security measures are seamlessly integrated with exceptional guest service standards. This partnership involves brainstorming creative, innovative solutions that align with the overarching goal of enhancing guest satisfaction while maintaining a safe environment.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 4+ years of prior relevant experience in the security field.

  • Seven (7) years of experience in the management of Security or a closely related field.

  • Ability to deescalate verbally and physically situations in potentially violent situations.

  • Experience in the Hospitality, Casino, or similar setting.
