Manager, Security Engineering

Job Description:

The Manager, Security Engineering leads and mentors a high-performing team of security engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security controls across Flexential's infrastructure. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to guide the team in delivering innovative security solutions that protect Flexential's assets and meet evolving business needs.
This leader works cross-functionally to build, develop, and maintain relationships with internal and external clients as well as vendors in support of infrastructure and systems within Security platforms at Flexential.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Team Leadership & Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of highly skilled security engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth within the team.
• Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members.
• Set clear goals, objectives, and performance expectations for the team.
• Establish KPIs and metrics to measure derived value and outcomes.

Security Engineering & Architecture:

• Define and implement the security engineering roadmap, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of security platforms and controls across Flexential infrastructure (e.g., network security, endpoint security, cloud security, application security).
• Oversee platform risk assessments, architecture reviews and collaborate on program and process maturation to support the business.
• Develop and maintain security standards, policies, and procedures in coordination with the security program management function.
• Oversee the application security engineering program in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Project Management & Execution:

• Manage security projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., development, operations, engineering, compliance) to integrate security into the fabric of Flexential.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, HITRUST, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).

Technical Expertise & Innovation:

• Stay abreast of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
• Research and evaluate new security tools and technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to the security engineering team.
• Communication & Collaboration:
• Effectively communicate security risks and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and customers.
• Represent Flexential at industry events and conferences.

Required Qualifications:    

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in information security engineering, with a strong focus on security architecture and design.
• 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring security engineering teams.
• Proven experience in implementing and managing security controls across various environments (e.g., on-premises, cloud, hybrid).
• Strong leadership and communication skills (oral and written) required. 
• Demonstrated conflict resolution and cross-functional collaboration skills 
• Strong understanding of security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, OSCP).
• Experience with cloud security architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with security platform modernization.
   

Physical Requirements:     

• Requires substantial computer and keyboard usage .
• Require extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Requires limited usage of phone.
• Limited travel, 10%.

Benefits are subject to change at the Company’s discretion. 

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $127,000 - $160,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications. 

Variable Pay: Discretionary annual bonus, based on personal and company performance.
