Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced IT and Cybersecurity Trainer/Teacher to join our team. This role involves training high-risk students who are academically behind, entering their junior year of high school. The goal is to engage these students and prepare them for successful careers in IT and Cybersecurity.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and develop comprehensive training modules in IT and Cybersecurity, tailored to meet the needs of high-risk students.
- Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective training sessions that cater to different learning styles and academic levels.
- Student Engagement: Implement innovative teaching strategies to engage students, foster a positive learning environment, and build excitement about future career opportunities.
- Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback.
- Career Guidance: Offer career counseling and support, helping students understand the pathways available in IT and Cybersecurity and how to navigate them.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor and role model, providing guidance and support to help students overcome challenges and stay motivated.
- Community Outreach: Collaborate with local organizations and community groups to promote the program and recruit students.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in IT and Cybersecurity and incorporate them into the training program.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in teaching or training, particularly with high-risk or underserved populations. Experience in IT and Cybersecurity is essential.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IT and Cybersecurity concepts, tools, and best practices.
- Excellent instructional and presentation skills.
- Ability to design engaging curriculum and adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in IT and Cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)) are highly desirable.
- Additional Requirements: Must be able to work onsite in the Chicagoland area and have a commitment to fostering educational equity and inclusion.
