What will you do?

As a Privacy Officer, you will join the DPO Team at NIBC and will engage in a wide variety of activities in the field of data protection, playing an important role in supporting and further improving data protection within NIBC. Your day-to-day activities will be varied, but will include the following:

  • Advising on NIBC’s adherence to data protection laws and practices, and signaling data protection risks
  • Acting as a point of contact for data protection queries within the organisation
  • Assessing, and advising on, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and recommending improvements
  • Supervising and maintaining the register of processing activities
  • Developing and delivering training sessions to increase data protection awareness amongst colleagues
  • Promoting a culture of data privacy within the organization through regular communications and initiatives
  • Providing advice with regard to (potential) data breaches, and handling data breaches and data subject requests  
  • Reporting to the Senior Management/Board of Directors about key data protection risks and key risk indicators

Your team 

NIBC’s DPO Team is tasked with the oversight of data protection and privacy within NIBC and with raising awareness on such matters, and is the primary point of contact for advice on all related matters. The DPO Team is part of NIBC’s Legal department and cooperates closely with other teams and departments, such as the Information Security team and the Compliance Team. You will be expected to work on a day to day basis in an open and collaborative manner with colleagues across the organisation, liaising with business colleagues, monitoring (if relevant) the work of external advisors and ensuring that all internal requirements and needs are addressed.

What do you bring?

  • At least 3-5 years relevant working experience in data protection or another relevant field, like  compliance and/or legal  operations
  • Strong affinity with data protection, and/or the ambition to further specialize in data protection 
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (both oral and written)
  • Bachelor's degree in applied sciences or a related field, or a university degree
  • Hands-on solution seeker
  • High personal ethical standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised
