What you'll be doing

The  Senior Consultant, Information Technology Compliance will be responsible for providing advice and consultation for Business Managed Technology or Shadow IT as part of the Enterprise Governance team. The role provides technical leadership, interpreting complex information and participating in business review sessions to influence decisions regarding the use of technology to support compliance objectives. The Senior Consultant develops, recommends and facilitates activities required for strengthening the Governance program, review current controls and build new controls to keep up with the changing technology landscape. The role independently resolves a variety of ambiguous challenges with organization-wide impacts, devising new methods using strong analytic and inductive thinking.

How you'll succeed

  • Understanding and Documenting Requirements - Work closely with stakeholders and control groups to gather requirements and lead discussions to assess impact to Business Managed Technology and update the program requirements as applicable.
    • Prepare and validate documents around areas such as scope clarification, requirements, and ongoing monitoring.
    • Identify and assess new tools and application types from emerging technologies and keep the program relevant to emerging and changing technology landscape  
  • Solution Design - Build solutions that meet business requirements and compliance requirements.
    • Recommend approved alternatives that align with organizational policies, governance and meet Business needs.
    • Partner with the IT department to implement new solutions or enhance existing systems to close functionality gaps.
  • Evaluating Risks and Ensuring Compliance – Assess the compliance and security risks posed by various applications.
    • Collaborate with the compliance and security teams to ensure data governance policies are adhered to.
    • Develop policies and procedures to govern IT tool usage across the organization. Develop action plans to mitigate risks.
    • Support periodic audits to ensure ongoing compliance with IT policies.
  • Leading and Mentoring – Support Business owners and understand the end-to-end Governance requirements to guide Business effectively.
    • Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
    • Driving strategic alignment by contributing to enterprise-wide initiatives to improve IT governance  
    • Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders and senior leaders on trends, risks, and mitigation efforts.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate 3-4 years of experience: in a governance role with experience in creating and implementing Enterprise Governance Programs and Controls
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, security, and business units.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, building and presenting reports.
  • It’s an asset if you have at least 2 years of experience with Business Managed Technology or Shadow IT alongside regulatory compliance experience within financial services sector.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and compliance standards.
