Job Purpose

The Cybersecurity Intern will assist the organization's security team in safeguarding digital assets, and systems against potential cyber threats. This role provides hands-on experience in real-world security practices, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability assessment, while supporting many ongoing projects to enhance the organization's overall security posture. The intern will have opportunities to learn about cutting-edge cybersecurity tools and methodologies, work collaboratively with experienced professionals, and contribute to the protection of sensitive data and critical infrastructure. Key responsibilities include monitoring security alerts, performing basic analysis of potential threats, assisting with the implementation of security controls, and documenting processes and findings. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology, eager to learn, and interested in developing a career in cybersecurity.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely detection, alerting, and the response of malicious network activity originating from external and internal threat actors.
  • Expertly understand how to operate and manage EnerSys specific security tools, including EDR, web proxies, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems
  • Research and stay updated on the latest cyber security threats, trends, and best practices.
  • Participate in assigned projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise.
  • Design simulated phishing emails based on actual threats to enhance the global phishing campaign.
  • Assist in implementing security best practices and guidelines for various systems and applications, ensuring they are appropriately configured and hardened against potential threats.                                      
  • Create automation and process improvements for the department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Be Familiar with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, encryption, and endpoint protection software.
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office 365 and product offerings.
  • Be familiar with Social Engineering tactics and methods of prevention.
  • Be familiar with important frameworks, regulations, and standards (NIST 800-171, CMMC, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc).
     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Willingness to collaborate with team members and seek guidance when needed.
  • A genuine passion for cybersecurity and a desire to understand emerging threats and technologies.
  • A willingness to ask questions and explore new concepts independently.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be willing to work off hours as needed.
