The Data Engineering team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges; making flights safer, power cheaper, and oil & gas production safer for people and the environment by leveraging data and analytics. The Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across Baker Hughes to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.

As a Data & Security Engineer, you will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across Baker Hughes to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies..

As a Data & Security Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Building and Engineer Data Pipelines for Ingestion & Processing of very large data sets in cloud environments
• Working with leaders, teams, and colleagues on solving issues related to ingesting or delivering data to and from different sources, platforms, or applications
• Coordinating with the appropriate teams to ensure required security protocols are in place and enforced
• Helping monitor and manage optimization and security of data lake operations.
• Managing and delivering technical solutions and highly available / reliable / scalable & Elastic in nature.
• Defining key performance and Availability Metrics, tracking/monitoring to achieve customer/business objectives.
• Working closely with Technology and security teams to build, secure, and execute cloud infrastructure road maps.
• Demonstrating the highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance, and honesty in all business interactions.
• Identifying and resolving issues and make recommendations for improvements to existing processes.
• Leading work streams across enterprise with a focus on providing high levels of production system performance; enabling disciplined, process-based execution; improving ongoing efficiency, cost transparency and consumption; and enhancing information security

To be successful in this role you will:
 

• Have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 2 years of experience
• Have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 2 years of professional experience.
• Have Data Pipeline Building & engineering experience.
• Have Experience in ETL, Data streaming, Orchestration & Data Governance is also desirable.
• Have programming / scripting experience commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, PySpark, SQL, Java).
• Have Experience with large database / data lake implementations highly desired (e.g. Databricks).
• Have Familiarity with basic cyber security concepts, trends, and technologies.
• Have Familiarity with Basic Linux admin concepts is desirable.
