Our Security Operations team, an integral part of the Technology and Information Security community here at Penguin, is recruiting for a Senior Security Operations Analyst.

 

Our Security Operations team, located across London and Essex, is dedicated to monitoring and protecting the security and integrity of our systems against technical risks, which aim to preserve the values and reputation of the Penguin brand. As our Senior Security Operations Analyst, you will be at the forefront of this mission.

 

The role

 

You will lead and inspire continuous improvement in the adoption and utilisation of advanced security tools, processes and services. This hands-on technical role will see you working closely with the Head of Security Operations to maintain and enhance our security posture.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure that technical security controls are operating effectively.

  • Play a leadership role in the team, and deputise for the Head of Security Operations as needed, to proactively challenge and drive continuous improvement with the use of security tooling.

  • Be a subject matter expert, assuming ownership for several security solutions and create a programme of work to increase capability and measurable value from security investments.

  • Drive improvements to our security posture through metrics.

  • Own and implement technical platform changes for security toolsets.

  • Lead on identifying and implementing security automation use cases and integration between security tools.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholder groups and be an advocate for Security Operations by sharing knowledge and insights.

  • Have oversight of services delivered by MSPs and maintain effective relationships with selected outsourced vendors.

  • When required, take the lead on technical incident responses and investigations, ensuring rapid response, containment, and business recovery from cyber incidents.

  • Conduct security control reviews across a range of control types and techniques.

  • Contribute to the development of information security and technical standards and guidelines.

  • Advise and guide other members of the Security Operations team where needed.

  • Produce technical and management reports as needed on a weekly or monthly basis.

You will bring:

 

Essential criteria:

 

  • High levels of energy, drive, enthusiasm and ownership for improving technical security controls.

  • Deep knowledge and experience across various security domains, including Infrastructure, Cloud, Applications and Networks.

  • Hands-on knowledge of technical security solutions in the following areas:

    • EDR & SIEM

    • Vulnerability Management

    • Attack Surface Management

    • Network Security Management

    • Application Security

    • Cloud Security Posture Management

    • Data Security Posture Management

    • Data Loss Prevention Technologies

    • Email Security

    • Threat Intelligence

  • An ability to build strong stakeholder relationships across the Technology division, to provide executive reporting where required. 

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary: Circa £60,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working is our current practise with time spent working from home or in our London office. Time required in the office will vary depending on projects and collaborative working sessions, and we are happy to discuss this during the interview process.
