The Cyber Intelligence team provide strategic, operational & tactical intelligence for consumption by Cyber Security and the Group, in alignment with our threat priorities, to enhance and focus defensive efforts to relevant threats. We ensure that cyber intelligence produced is timely, relevant, accurate, and actionable by our stakeholders, and maintain knowledge of changes in intelligence collection and analysis practice.  

Your Role

As the Senior Manager of Cyber Threat Intelligence Operations, you will play a significant role in leading a motivated and highly skilled operational team to continue delivering world-class cyber intelligence services cyber intelligence services to the CommBank Group.

Your deep understanding of the cyber threat landscape, technical competence and well-developed people leadership capabilities will be instrumental in driving the continual refinement and overall success of our highly effective team.  

In this role, you will take ownership of ensuring the optimised and effective day to day running of the crew, as well as being a key custodian of the continuous professional development of your direct reports.

Duties may include, though not limited to:

  • Enhancing the team's AI Cyber data intelligence capability by integrating advanced machine learning algorithms and analytical tools.
  • Developing the team’s capability in proactively identifying and mitigating emerging threats, streamlining threat detection processes, and improving the accuracy and efficiency of threat intelligence dissemination.
  • Supporting the build of uplifted reporting and insights through AI by leveraging advanced analytics and data visualisation techniques.
  • Empowering the team to better understand threat patterns, predict potential security breaches, and develop more robust defence mechanisms.
  • Ensuring insights are seamlessly integrated into workflow to enhance decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Providing oversight and mentorship to a dynamic and highly skilled operations team.
  • Fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation to ensure the delivery of world-class cyber intelligence services.
  • Assist in identifying, prioritising, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defence infrastructure and key resources.
  • Report on and present information on the current threat landscape to defence and leadership teams.
  • Collect, process and analyse threat data to determine TTPs, weaknesses exploited, and exploitation methods to provide actionable cyber threat intelligence.
  • Identify patterns and trends in threat actor TTPs and campaigns to make recommendations to cyber defence teams.

Your Skills and Experience 

A highly effective people leader able to motivate, mentor and influence the effective and efficient delivery of key strategic objectives. You will have a servant-leadership approach with a keen understanding of what it takes to further develop an already a high performing team, and deliver improvements in technical competence, operational efficiency, accuracy and data hygiene best practices.

As a Cyber Threat Intelligence expert, you will confidently navigate complex datasets to identify potential cyber threats and deliver meaningful insights that protect CommBank customers, our colleagues and communities. In addition to the above, success in this role will require you to have:

  • Extensive leadership experience and/or competence, particularly within large complex enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in Cyber Threat Intelligence tools, frameworks and best practice guidelines.
  • Experience in delivering AI for cyber defence and intelligence programs, products and integrations
  • Clear, effective and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly effective stakeholder engagement, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
  • Technical competence in scripting for automation using tools like Python.
  • Expertise in designing and executing data/intelligence gathering strategies through both open and closed sources.  
  • Experience with security technologies e.g. SIEM, Threat Intelligence Platform.
