Job Description

The Information Security Data Engineer is responsible for implementing easy-to-understand security metrics and easy-to-use online and offline reporting to support the Experian Cyber Security strategy. Reporting and data routines produced will align with industry security frameworks and standards to support the reporting commitments of the security office and business stakeholders. You will be responsible for the direct development and delivery of automation and engineering projects related to the Security Metrics & Reporting cloud migration.

You will report to the Lead Security Data Engineer.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work within the metrics and reporting framework to identify, create, define, monitor, analyze, and evaluate security metrics with SMEs.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to collect and evaluate metrics and trending data to assess the effectiveness of security controls.
  • Develop workflows to collect, store, and secure raw data from multiple security tools for reporting.
  • Ensure all business rules and policies to transform data and any data quality or coverage issues are displayed in the agreed format.
  • Document developed workflows and work with other Engineers to maintain existing documentation.
  • Work with tools for reporting development, such as PowerBI, AWS Glue, Tableau, and Power Automate.
  • Document processes, development activities, and reporting to external audiences.
  • Assess the validity of source data and subsequent findings.

Qualifications

Your background:

  • Degree or working towards a degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Data and Analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a professional setting (internships or other relevant experiences are considered).
  • Experience performing analytical work as part of data modeling and assessing the quality of data sets.
  • Understand information security controls, general IT processes, and process analysis.
  • Experience generating report analytics and queries (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • Experience using data analysis and transformation tools such as Alteryx, Power Automate, Excel, and MS Forms.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with Cloud Data management and using AWS Glue, Lambda Function, etc.
  • Experience building reporting and performing data analytics on varied data sets.
  • Ability to understand user reporting requirements and deliver reporting highlighting issues requiring resolution
  • Experience documenting processes to ensure repeatability
