As Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer II, you’ll oversee and conduct information assurance and cybersecurity activities for large and complex systems with the Department of Defense, including those utilizing cloud computing environments. The ideal candidate will lead efforts to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards such as NIST 800-53, implement robust security measures, and protect sensitive data and systems from cyber threats. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to assess risks, implement security controls, and maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Implement and monitor security controls to ensure compliance with applicable frameworks and regulations and develop Authorities to Operate (ATO) for existing and future systems.
  • Investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents, coordinating with relevant teams to contain and remediate threats.
  • Collaborate with IT and cloud teams to design and deploy secure system architectures.
  • Document and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Monitor system logs, alerts, and metrics to detect and respond to anomalous activities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and tools to enhance the organization's security posture
  • Prepare and deliver security updates, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Master’s Degree in Information Systems or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • You currently hold the following certifications: CISSP or CISM, CISSM or CASP and can obtain DoD 8140 IAM/IAT Level III certifications.
  • 7+ years of experience in information assurance, cybersecurity, or related roles, including experience with large-scale systems and cloud computing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements within a Federal Government environment.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing security requirements for Government public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including their security features and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIS 800-53, and DoD cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices, including cloud security.
  • Strong understanding of incident response, threat analysis, and vulnerability management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
