- Applicants must be available for a non-negotiable start date of Wednesday, May 7, 2025
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
- By May 5, 2025, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting).
Summary
The IT Security Intern will assist the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Services teams with daily security operations tasks, vulnerability management, and other small projects. The individual must possess strong fundamental knowledge of security concepts such as phishing, malware, social engineering, vulnerabilities, cryptography, the CIA triad, multi-factor authentication, and access management. Experience with key cybersecurity tools such as network firewalls, intrusion-detection systems, anti-virus, email filtering solutions, Azure Active Directory, and vulnerability scanners would be an asset.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring the computing environment and managing the supporting security technologies to ensure systems confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Participating in the incident response process from investigation through to issue resolution
- Vulnerability management activities, including the assessment and remediation of vulnerable software and devices
- Assessment of existing and new security risks, working with the Security Team members to develop relevant corrective actions and preventative controls
- Assist with the documentation of relevant processes and procedures
- Participate in security awareness training events such as lunch and learns and IT Town Hall meetings
- Collaboration and clear communication with other IT teams/resources in delivering secure solutions
- Small projects as required

Education
Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a Degree, diploma, or technical program certificate in Computer Science & Security from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience
Solid understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts, such as malware, phishing, vulnerabilities, cryptography, the CIA triad, access management, etc.
Experience with TCP/IP networking
Experience with Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory-managed Environments
Experience with Linux would be beneficial
Certifications such as the CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Associate of (ISC)², or Certified in Cybersecurity (ISC)² would set the candidate apart
