Job Title: Security Engineer II
Department: Information Technology
FLSA: Exempt
General Function
Utilize business knowledge and technical experience to: Continually protect information assets and brand image. Monitor and configure systems and logs related to IT security. Work with system, network, database, and development administrators; making recommendations on how to better secure the computing environment. Assist in the monitoring, development, and implementation of IT security policies and standards. Utilize various tools to regularly test and audit system, network, data, and application protections. Operate individually and as part of a team to accomplish initiatives. Completes tasks designed to ensure security of the organization's systems and information assets. Protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction and develops IT security policies and standards. Works with end users to determine needs of individual departments. Implements policies or procedures and tracks compliance throughout the organization. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Protects systems and networks by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Configures and support security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, patch management systems, web filtering, etc.
- Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations.
- Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
- Upgrades system by implementing and maintaining security controls.
- Identifies gaps in tools or processes and makes recommendations for remediation
- Leads knowledge transfer sessions

Intermediate level of core competencies
Experience and Education
Bachelor degree preferred, or relevant experience.

Physical Requirements
- Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
- Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.
