Who we are looking for

The State Street Global Privacy Office is looking for a talented Privacy Engineer to become an integral part of our global privacy compliance team. Demonstrated experience executing Privacy Risk Assessments, as well as general knowledge of privacy compliance, data protection, risk, and/or audit disciplines is required. This role will work collaboratively with the team and business stakeholders to perform a variety of privacy program activities, deliver pragmatic advice, and assist in maintaining the privacy program. 

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for

As a Privacy Engineer, Vice President you will

  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) in accordance with global privacy regulations including Article 35 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • Assist in maintaining and reporting on the firm's Record of Processing Activities.

  • Support in the assessment of third parties to understand services provided, personal data processed and residual privacy risk.

  • Support the monitoring of new and changing global privacy and data protection laws and regulations.

  • Draft assessment memos, guidance notes, processes, procedures, and training materials, as necessary.

  • Maintain detailed metrics and report on the effectiveness of privacy operations.

  • Provide support to other Privacy Office Programs, (e.g., DSARs, Incident Management, Regulatory Submissions, etc.)

  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint skills are essential; Archer GRC experience is a plus

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a law degree

  • 6+ years of privacy, audit or risk experience

  • Understanding of global data privacy regulations, including the GDPR

  • Experience working cross-functionally on enterprise-wide programs

  • Experience working with remote / geographically dispersed teams

  • CIPP, CDPSE, CISA, or other relevant privacy / IT audit certifications preferred
