Position Overview

This position is located on site at Fort Meade, MD

The Cyber Technical Instructor is a key role responsible for training diverse DoD audiences, including range engineers, on operating the Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE)—the world’s largest cyber range. This role involves delivering technical training virtually, in-residence, or in hybrid formats, and contributing to the development of effective training programs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical training on essential topics, including virtualization, network creation, databases, identity services, and related technologies.
• Instruct students on foundational and advanced computer networking concepts such as routing, switching, subnets, and network security methodologies.
• Collaborate with content developers to create course-related objects like networks and frameworks for the PCTE platform.
• Facilitate engaging instruction in virtual, in-person, or hybrid formats.
• Apply effective classroom management techniques to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
• Organize rosters, track student progress, and prepare detailed progress reports.
• Evaluate student assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist in maintaining and updating training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Analyze training programs and recommend improvements to enhance effectiveness.

Required Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical instruction, with an emphasis on computer networking and cybersecurity.
• Strong understanding of computer networking principles, including TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, firewalls, and LAN/WAN configurations.
• Familiarity with IT operations, VMware vSphere or NSX, Microsoft Active Directory, Linux, Atlassian Jira/Confluence, Puppet or Ansible, and networking technologies.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver technical training programs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of or experience with PCTE.
• DevOps experience.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or other DoD 8570 IAT Level II certifications.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

• TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Occasional travel may be required (as part of a mobile training team) up to 25% of the time.

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $110,000

Salary Maximum: $130,000
