This role will work with the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) to support company-wide cyber security policies and procedures, and to monitor Verafin and Nasdaq’s security tools for security-related events. You will get the opportunity to interact with other areas of the business and keep the organization secure while using your refined problem-solving skills! There is room for growth in this rapidly expanding field.  
 
As a Security Operations Intern, you will be responsible for ensuring a diligent and detail-oriented cyber security investigation is performed on all alerts and events related to the security of both Verafin and Nasdaq. You will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on network security processes, application security measures, access controls, and corporate data safeguards in adherence with enterprise security policies and continuous evaluation of information security threats. This role will work in tandem with both Verafin and Nasdaq teams and will provide an opportunity to become an expert working alongside and learning from some of the best. 

 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Evaluate network and system security events from the Nasdaq SIEM and take appropriate actions based on security policies and procedures  

  • Perform in-depth log analysis of log files in the Nasdaq SIEM looking for suspicious events  

  • Monitor operational alerts and provide security assistance for all Nasdaq related issues  

  • Monitor information security related intelligence to ensure the organization is notified of critical threats affecting Nasdaq systems or personnel  

  • Monitor and respond to support tickets assigned to the GSOC  

Essential Skills & Qualifications  

  • Must be a rising senior (Dec 2025/Spring 2026 grad) enrolled full time for the upcoming semester in an accredited college or university in Security Management, Programming, Computer Science, or related major and on track to graduate

  • Certifications: GIAC certifications or information security relevant certifications would be considered an asset  

  • Strong operational skills and interest in security  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

This position is located in St. John’s, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (2 days a week in office), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
