The Manager, Corporate Safety & Security Operations will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of Wayfair's employees, facilities, and business operations globally. This position oversees HQ security functions, office safety, executive travel risk management, the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), and travel safety protocols. Reporting directly to the Head of Global Asset Protection, this role is critical to fostering a safe, secure, and resilient workplace, enabling employees to thrive while proactively addressing and mitigating risks.
The successful candidate will combine operational expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to address security challenges in a fast-paced, global business environment. This role requires 24/7 readiness to respond to evolving safety and security needs while driving proactive measures to safeguard the company’s people, assets, and operations.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership & Team Management:
- Oversee HQ security operations, emergency response protocols, and physical security measures at the Boston headquarters and other office locations Globally.
- Provide professional development, coaching, and mentorship to GSOC Supervisors, Analysts, and Operators.
- Foster a high-performance culture by empowering team members and driving accountability.
- Build and sustain strong relationships across the organization to ensure seamless execution of safety and security initiatives.
- Develop strategies for handling complex, high-visibility challenges in creative, business-centric ways, leveraging resources and technology to build scalable risk management processes.
Incident Management & Risk Mitigation:
- Lead responses to critical incidents, including severe injuries, workplace violence, and business continuity challenges (e.g., severe weather, power outages, civil unrest).
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to minimize risks and mitigate threats to employees, facilities, and business operations.
- Manage safety and security protocols for executive travel and high-profile organizational events, such as board meetings and key leader visits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure preparedness and effective emergency management.
Threat Assessment & Preparedness:
- Lead threat assessment and risk management initiatives, including workplace violence prevention and global safety incident readiness.
- Develop intelligence reports that enhance organizational awareness and provide actionable recommendations.
- Identify and implement tools and processes to improve the automation and efficiency of threat detection and incident response.
Safety & Security Operations:
- Maintain situational awareness and leverage security tools (e.g., access control, CCTV, and threat intelligence platforms) to safeguard employees and facilities.
- Implement and refine processes for detecting and assessing impactful threats to minimize business disruptions.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), including supervising GSOC Supervisors, Analysts, and Operators.
- Manage security protocols for executive travel, including risk assessments and threat mitigation strategies.
- Oversee security planning for high-profile events, including board meetings and senior leadership visits.
- Drive continuous improvement by ensuring all threat detection and assessment mechanisms are effective and aligned with best practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Talent, Facilities) and external partners (e.g., law enforcement, regulatory agencies).
- Provide relevant and actionable reporting to senior stakeholders and executive management.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent 5+ years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, intelligence, or related fields.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong background in critical incident response, threat assessment, and organizational event risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-pressure situations constructively and decisively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in intelligence report writing.
- Experience supporting executive travel and developing threat profiles to reduce risk.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and law enforcement.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to multitask effectively in dynamic situations.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong bias for action and comfort with ambiguity.
- Ability to travel as business needs arise (10-15%).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as required by the job.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., sitting or standing).
- Ability to move about within an office, store, or warehouse environment.
- Ability to lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
