About the Role:
As SSE Network Engineer, you will evolve our infrastructure with a focus on Secure Service Edge (SSE) solutions to support both engineering and operational tasks. Join a team of Network Engineers assisting in the implementation, and day-to-day management of SSE solutions to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable network access for users across the organization.
Your main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior engineers to contribute to the deployment, and configuration of the SSE solution, integrating SSE with the existing infrastructure in Swiss Re
- Perform daily monitoring and operational tasks related to SSE platforms, including policy enforcement, incident response, etc.
- Troubleshoot user access issues, URL filtering problems, SSL inspection, and policy enforcement gaps
- Work closely with managed service providers to ensure SLAs are met and issues are resolved promptly
- Maintain and update network configurations, ensuring they align with best practices and security policies
- Assist in testing and validating new SSE features and updates in lab environments before production rollout
- Document operational procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps in the team wiki
About the Team:
Edge & Connectivity Services is an area consisting of three teams (Cloudflare, Gateway Services, and Connectivity Services) that address the challenges of hosting Swiss Re's public endpoints and the connectivity within the Swiss Re landscape. The teams deal with securing the edge, hosting gateways for APIs as well as data integration and are centrally responsible for connectivity across the Swiss Re backbone and for general addressability. This includes internal endpoints in both the private and the public clouds.
About you:
As SSE Network Engineer, you are an experienced professional with a hands-on mentality and operational skills. In particular, you possess:
- Experience in network engineering, security and IT operations
- Good understanding of networking concepts and experience working with DNS, VPN, firewalls (Palo alto, Panorama, ASA, FortiGate), proxies, LB (F5 LTM, GTM and ASM)
- Knowledge of security policies, URL filtering, SSL/TLS interception, and threat protection
- Awareness of cyber threats and the importance of governed Internet breakouts/proxies
- Strong troubleshooting skills for connectivity and access issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP Security, CISSP, CEH, PCNSE)
- Hands-on experience with SSE tools
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security practices
Growth Path:
This role offers opportunities to develop into a specialized Network Security Engineer or SSE Engineer, with exposure to advanced security architectures, cloud security integrations, and automation tools.
For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 2,700] and [EUR 4,500] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
