The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Operations Support Analyst is a vital member of Emerson’s IT Security Operations team, dedicated to ensuring the seamless functioning of Emerson’s Authorization (AuthZ) services across the enterprise. This role involves providing comprehensive support to maintain and enhance the security and efficiency of IAM processes. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills to ensure the success of IAM initiatives across the enterprise.
This position is responsible for troubleshooting and support of the AuthZ service, so understanding of employee lifecycle management and related processes is essential for this role. Experience with Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and associated services would be beneficial.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve service-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. Act as an escalation point to resolve urgent and/or complex issues and manage expectations for production/non-production critical path issues.
- Issue Identification and Resolution: Identify recurring problems within IAM services and collaborate with the engineering team to implement permanent solutions. Attend application design/requirements meetings with Engineering team to analyze user needs to determine functional and technical requirements.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Understand and support processes related to employee lifecycle management, including onboarding, offboarding, and role changes.
- Identity Governance and Administration (IGA): Implement and maintain IGA policies and procedures to ensure compliance and effective governance of identities.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document troubleshooting activities and resolutions, and develop metrics and reports to track service performance and identify areas for improvement. Ensure processes are auditable, maintain Segregation of Duties (SOD) and least privilege-based access concepts.
- Training and Education: Provide training and support to fellow administrators on IAM services and related technologies. Provide user training and maintain/contribute to training materials and/or instructions for end-users.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor the user experience of enterprise applications, ensuring continuous improvement, responsiveness, accountability and seamless service for customers. Provide regular verbal and written communications regarding status, risks, issues, as well as makes recommendations for remediation or change. Continually research and remain informed of new technology and development tools, looking for opportunities to improve configurations and/or business processes.
- Environmental Awareness: Develop knowledge of how the organization’s applications interact with different systems and business processes, like SailPoint, AD, Okta, to ensure they operate practically with Identity and Access Management.
- You experiment with a wide range of existing technologies while applying new and emerging options that can enhance organizational outcomes. You lay out a thorough schedule and list steps for achieving objectives. You facilitate an open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and partners.
- Education: BS degree in IT or related fields
- Experience: 1-2 years of cybersecurity-related experience – specifically Active Directory, Okta, SailPoint, tools – is preferred.
- Certifications: Certifications in IAM or related technologies are advantageous.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IAM concepts, including AuthZ, IGA, and PAM.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing data to identify trends and recurring problems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Personal traits: Highly responsive with a strong sense of ownership towards client value creation and drive to add value. Ability to multi-task & drive multiple priorities to completion. Adaptable to changing environments and circumstances. Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
- Security-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, GCIH, GREM, MCSE) are a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to understand PowerShell or other scripting languages
