Job Summary
The Principal IT Cybersecurity Analyst is an expert level position where a combination of strong technical and project leadership skills are used to accomplish complex tasks and large projects. A solid understanding of business requirements and processes, and the associated business cybersecurity risk profile, is required to effectively assess threat environment and manage technical solution implementation. The Principal IT Cybersecurity Analyst leads the effort to determine methods and procedures on all work. Can also be responsible for setting new direction and establishing and communicating goals for a team. Develops creative and cost effective solutions to a wide range of complex issues where analysis is of variable and/or ambiguous factors. Makes well thought-out decisions and utilizes expert cybersecurity knowledge to advise and expedite the change process. Provides support, leadership, direction, and assistance to senior and junior staff. Accountable for maintaining system and data integrity and achievement of system service levels.
Job Responsibilities
- Protect enterprise information, intellectual assets and business operations from accidental or intentional disruption, disclosure or destruction.
- Develops system concepts and works on the capabilities phases of the systems development life cycle; translates technology and environmental conditions (e.g., law and regulation) into system and security designs and processes.
- Conducts technology and integration process assessment; provides and supports a prototype capability and/or evaluates its utility.
- Ensures that the stakeholder security requirements necessary to protect the organization’s mission and business processes are adequately addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture including reference models, segment and solution architectures, and the resulting systems supporting those missions and business processes.
- Contribute to cybersecurity program and roadmap.
- Define KPIs to measure enterprise-wide security effectiveness and support program governance.
- Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies and procedures that affect cybersecurity operations and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g. NERC CIP, Sarbanes Oxley).
- Evaluates potential business impacts from security breaches and provides strategic and tactical guidance to leadership.
- Provides leadership, technical support, training, mentoring and expertise to less experienced team members.
- Coordinates activities on a work or project team. Establish and maintain relationships across multiple teams where necessary.
- Takes the lead in the design, modification, development, testing and implementation of cybersecurity systems.
- Identifies, develops, implements and maintains key performance and process metrics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, procedures and systems. Participates/leads in the development of service level agreements.
- Analyzes and resolves complex problems, utilizes a logical, structured approach, and expedites problem resolution. Can lead a team or individuals through the root cause problem analysis and solution process.
- Proactively develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with clients, customers and key stakeholders. Involves the client in planning and decision making. Actively solicits feedback through formal and informal channels to measure customer satisfaction.
- Balances client requests with available resources and operational directives of team. Presents effective and achievable options to the client.
- Possesses expert knowledge of systems, processes and procedures used by clients. Applies that knowledge in meeting client’s needs. Is a source of expert knowledge to their team, sharing and teaching technical cybersecurity tools and components to other team members.
- Performs special studies/evaluations, develops business cases and performs cost/benefit analysis as required. Develops and submits proposals, reports, analysis and designs. Demonstrates business acumen. Utilizes research, library, or internet resources as necessary.
- Stay updated on advancements in AI and machine learning technologies to drive innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years in a cybersecurity role and experience in an occupation requiring project leadership with a wide range of experiences. A strong technical understanding of cybersecurity practices and strong analytical skills is also required
- Bachelor’s degree required. It is preferred the degree is in computer science, information systems or similar field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CCSP, GAIC, MCSE, GICSP, CSSA)

Pay Range Minimum: $101,743.46
Pay Range Maximum: $152,615.06
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
