Jira System Administrator

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a mid-level JIRA Administrator in Chantilly, VA, to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. As a JIRA Administrator, you’ll be supporting an exciting program involving the design, development, test, and deployment of a complex cloud-based infrastructure system. Your support directly contributes to mission success of our government customer and a multitude of tenant stakeholders. Responsibilities:

• Maintain Jira and Confluence environments ensuring adherence to DoD, program and corporate security policies and data protection regulations
• Manage multiple projects on several different JIRA instances
• Work with internal and external business partners to define requirements, design solutions, and test implementations for advanced customization, automation, and integration
  • Customize spaces with macros, widgets, and integrations to support specific workflows and team needs
  • Create custom permission schemes, notification schemes, screens, and similar configuration changes on a project-by-project basis
  • Manage custom add-ons and determine when/where they should be implemented
  • Create and configure Confluence spaces tailored to specific teams, projects, or departments
  • Develop & maintain custom JIRA workflows based upon business requirements
  • Implement customizations utilizing Atlassian Jira and Confluence tools
• Develop integrations between Jira, Confluence, and other tools utilizing APIs
• Develop new solutions on production system while maintaining appropriate change controls
• Assign appropriate JIRA and Confluence space permissions and restrictions to ensure secure access based on roles and responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Skills

• An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to maintain this level of clearance.  
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or related field with 5+ years experience, or 3+ years experience with a Masters degree. However, four (4) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
• You have 2-5 years of experience in System Administration or a related field
• You have 2-5 years of experience managing and providing JIRA accounts
• Compliance with DoD 8140 is required for an Intermediate System Administrator including appropriate IT certifications (I.e. CCNA-Security, CASP, CISSP, Security+, etc.)
• Experience with JIRA development, test, and security accreditation processes
• Experience working with JIRA Software, Jira Service Desk, and Confluence tools, ideally JIRA Cloud, JIRA Data Center, Confluence Cloud, Confluence Server
• Experience supporting designing, building, and accrediting JIRA in a classified environment
• Familiar with Atlassian product life cycle as it relates to upgrades and installing/ configuring new add-ons
• Knowledge of and the ability to apply, process design and redesign skills
• Experience supporting migration between environments (e.g., Jira Server to Data Center) with full planning and execution
• Integrating and configuring plugins to ensure compatibility across environments
• Managing development, staging, and production environments during migration
• Handling data migration complexities, ensuring data integrity and resolving conflicts
• Troubleshooting migration-related issues, including performance and compatibility
• Troubleshoot operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, contributing to upgrades and implementation of new functionality, and providing the overall upkeep and maintenance of JIRA and Confluence instances
• Basic understanding of Linux systems, networking, HTTPS, firewalls, SSO, SAML
• Familiarity with LDAP connection between JIRA and Active Directory

 

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting the DoD customer
• Familiarity with current DoD customer systems and associated security policies/procedures
• Experience working with Windows and/or UNIX systems in a JIRA environment
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Detail/ process oriented, can multi-task, and can work with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management, the government customer and tenant stakeholders across DoD

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
