The Manager Team Identity Engineering & Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operational and engineering aspects of team identity and access management across the organisation. 

This role ensures the seamless execution of team member Identity & Access Management (IAM) processes, from provisioning and deprovisioning to privileged access management and compliance. The Manager Team Identity Engineering & Operations works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric solutions while aligning IAM practices with business goals and regulatory standards. In addition to managing IAM systems, the Manager leads a dedicated team, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement in the IAM domain.  The Manager works closely with the Principal Identity Architect and team to ensure alignment with IAM standards, and in the future with the Manager Customer Identity Engineering & Operations to facilitate team access to customer systems.

Strategic Oversight

  • Implement the IAM strategy aligned with organisational goals.

  • Provide input to and manage operational and engineering IAM policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Provide input to IAM architecture, patterns, and standards to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise goals.

  • Lead the adoption of best practices for identity governance and security, ensuring alignment with industry trends and business needs.  Ensure Engineering efforts and operations match industry best practice.

  • Advocate for IAM throughout the business as a critical enabler of business objectives, ensuring it is prioritised in organisational planning and decision-making.

  • Partner with Identity Architecture and Enterprise Architecture to align IAM initiatives with broader architectural frameworks and strategic direction.

Operational Leadership

  • Manage IAM operations, ensuring seamless provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, and privileged access management (PAM).

  • Oversee the IAM Operations team, including offshore staff, ensuring SLA adherence for Level 1 tickets and user requests.

  • Maintain system availability and performance across all IAM platforms, integrating with organisational applications and infrastructure.

  • Streamline workflows and monitor KPIs to enhance operational efficiency while addressing escalations effectively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EUC, Google Workspace, and People Systems teams, to address dependencies and align on IAM-related requirements.

  • Define and monitor operational workflows, SLAs, and KPIs to optimize service delivery and operational excellence.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate identity-related risks to reduce exposure to potential threats.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and frameworks, including conducting access reviews and audits.

  • Collaborate with audit teams to support internal and external audits, ensuring alignment with identity transformation initiatives.

  • Coordinate with the Senior Manager Cyber Defence to support as required and act as the incident lead for critical IAM security events, ensuring effective communication, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.

Team Management and Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor IAM professionals, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.

  • Work closely with the Head of Identity Transformation and the Principal Identity Architect and all other relevant stakeholders to implement transformational IAM strategies and oversee major initiatives.

  • Act as an initial point of escalation for identity-related issues and drive resolution in alignment with operational priorities.

  • Promote cross-functional knowledge sharing to improve IAM understanding and adoption across departments.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on emerging IAM trends, technologies, and threats to inform strategic decisions.

  • Champion the adoption of modern IAM tools and methodologies to enhance security and user experience.

  • Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions to address evolving organisational needs.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in managing Identity and Access Management operations, including user provisioning, deprovisioning, and privileged access management.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing IAM teams, including offshore staff and operational escalations.

  • Experience in monitoring, maintaining, and optimising IAM workflows to meet performance KPIs and SLAs.

  • Proven track record of resolving IAM-related incidents and ensuring minimal downtime in operations.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to engage with IT, business, and security stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2), and audit practices.

  • Hands-on experience with IAM platforms, such as SailPoint IdentityNow, EntraID (Azure AD), or equivalent tools.

  • Strong understanding of authentication mechanisms (e.g., SSO, MFA) and their implementation in enterprise environments.

  • Familiarity with identity lifecycle management and access governance principles.

  • Experience maintaining IGA solutions at scale.

  • Experience with monitoring and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) to manage operational workflows effectively.

Good to have

  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM), or ITIL Foundation are highly valued.

  • Familiarity with PAM solutions like CyberArk or BeyondTrust.

  • Experience implementing IGA solutions at scale.
